They call me, say they are a company named metacredit, and asked for all my personal information. I asked them to remove me from contact list.

my husband received a credit card offer from capital one. first we never received first on sent. they send a new one and we just got it. tried to activate it online said password was wrong go to answer security questions and second security question was not even one of his questions he had chosen to be "middle name of oldest child" so of course its not going to be correct, he has no kids. so they give the 800 6787820 to call so he calls and they transfer him to fraud department and they ask acouple questions to verify that it is him. then they put you on hold forever and come back to say even though the answers he gave were all correct they still need copy of dl and send it to a link they send to his email. this call is starting to concern him because how do you know if this is all just a scam and if this credit card hes trying to activate is even real or are they trying to get all his info and a copy of his drivers license. it just seems like something is wrong here I might have been born at night but it wasn't last night or am I just being to para.... anybody have this happen or know if this is lagit, help please.

The exact same thing happened to me, except when the fraud specialist came back from the long hold;Rep: "I'm on the other line with the true applicant I can no longer handle this call. if you'd like to apply for your own credit card I can transfer you".Me: "What do you mean you're on the other line with the TRUE applicant?"Rep: Repeats the whole thing again 2 more times. "If you'd like to verify your information, please send a copy of your DL, SS card, and proof of address via email or fax."Me: "Can I cancel this card, I no longer want it"Rep: "Even if you cancel you need to send in your info"Of course, after hanging up I didn't send anything in. Everything smelled way too fishy. Called 1-800-CAPITAL and tried to cancel from there and was told the card was already canceled.
