The number 800-847-2911 was calling about 5 times a day. I Googled it and that number is a legitimate VISA call center number but these scammers are just using that number for their caller ID. I answered, it was poor call quality, noisy background and you guessed it, sounds like someone from Bangalore! He starts telling me that I'm selected to get a lower rate on my VISA. I ask what VISA, he answers VISA. I ask what bank, he says RBC. Liar! I haven't had an RBC VISA for over 5 years! I hung up.People!BANKS NEVER CALL YOU WITH DEALS!DON'T FALL FOR THESE SCAMS!JUST HANG UP!
Ew! You backed down. Stand up for yourself. These people lied to you saying they were Visa. Report them to Visa.com and they will get in enormous trouble- finces & perhaps jail.
When this number called I asked to be taken off their call list and the man on the phone told me to "put my finger in my [***]." I thought I had misheard, so I asked him to repeat (this time on speakerphone so my husband could hear). He said the same thing again. I said "are you kidding me?" and he told me to "go [***] yourself." I hung up. Unbelievable!
I got a call from 916-219-8137 and asked them for a number that I could call them back on. The guy asked why and I said that I was going to turn them in to the attorney general. He said "you don't want to do that, we are here to help you, you have a high intrest rate on your credit card and that's a fact!" I said "well not really since my credit card account is closed." He hung up and I called the 800-347-2911 number that he gave me. I got a guy who said "Discover, how can I help you?" I asked if this was really discover and he assured me that it was. I then asked why a third party would be calling me to lower my credit rate since my account is closed. He said "I see that" I asked how did he see that since I did not tell him who I am or give my account number? He said "well you still want to lower your intrest rate don't you?" I said no and hung up! I called Discover and they think that because it is a 800-347-number it is ligit! They don't even know either.
I received a phone call from 1-800-847-2911 saying they were from Visa/MASTERCARD centre and they were offering me a rate of 3.9 for life because I was a good customer. He then proceeded to tell me my address and then asked me for my mastercard number. I refused to give him my number over the phone. He said well this phone call is being monitored and I told him no. He was very insistent that this was legitimate but you never give out card numbers over the phone. He just started to argue and then hung up. The person was of Indian descent due to the accent.
a sweet young lady spoke on a pre recorded message saying I had earned a reduction in my creditcards interests...That they were affliliated with 551 banks and Visa and Mastercard..WHAT A SCAM .They are looking for you to give them your card numbers to verify that you are in good credit standing and have made your payments in the last 6 months.....I spoke to their supervisor because they could not give me an answer to how they make their money representing me. A man by the name of Christian Banks (OMG No kidding!) spooke to me then and said that they get their money from the interest and finance charges tat i save.....LOL....at no cost to me they could negotiate on my behalf to get my rates lowered by claiming that on Feb 1 when the companies plan to accelerate interest rates on all their clients..... He said the reason they can do this and not me is that when I call the credit card companies, they will not do it for one person but they represent many people and with the numbers they have that really make them negotiate with them... These guys are pretty good....... he said his company was called Credit Relief and that they had been doing this awhile He had worked for them for 6 years but had gotten promoted overr time he got paid by the hour not by the job....etc....even though his boss is on salary. He said he worked for them for 6 years and that he was from Pittsburgh. When I asked for a number to contact him this is the number I got.
