The phone number ID said "Toll Free CA" and I refused to answer the phone so they left a message on my answering machine. They claimed that my husband's Wells Fargo debit card had unauthorized transactions on it so it had been terminated and a new care was in the mail on its' way to him. Then they said to call phone number 1-877-294-6933 about it or the phone number on the back of the debit card which was 1-800-869-3557. I looked on the back of the debit card and the 1-800-869-3557 number WAS on the back of my debit card so I called Well's Fargo and told them about the message. They checked and said that the first phone number I had been given by the phone caller was NOT a Well's Fargo phone number as far as he could tell. He checked out account and NO FRAUDULENT CHARGES had been made with our debit card nor were any messages sent to us regarding our debit card having fraudulent charges or being cancelled and a new card being sent. He said that it is a phishing scam trying to get our information. So I put a block on the phone number so they can't call us again and if they change a few numbers and call us again with a new phone number I can block a range of numbers or all phone numbers except the phone numbers that I put in our phone account and then no-one else can call us. However, Well's Fargo did try to sell me on opening a savings account which I refuse to do because I disapprove of their financially supporting GLBT groups and giving mortgages to illegal immigrants. I only have one account with them because they are the only bank that I can find a machine to take money out of free of charge almost anywhere in the USA when I travel. I keep as little money as possible in their bank and if I could find a credit union in our area where I could have nationwide easy access to my money when I travel I would close my Well's Fargo account immediately. Anything but the smallest minimum required will never go to Wells Fargo...or any bank. I'd rather make an investment or put it somewhere that doesn't financially support causes that I don't want to give money too. Maybe I should open my own company for people like me to keep their money in.

this number seems fraudulent.i got a LETTER with this number on it claiming to be wells fargo but when i called wells fargo it is NOT them.

It was simply WF automated call letting me know they mailed me a new debit card...which I had just received.
