this is a legit cra collections number. It's the collections department, asking about outstanding balances, payment arrangements or missing GST returns. depending on reason for the call different callback phone numbers are provided. If in doubt call the collection/payment arrangement phone number on cra website 1-888-863-8657. You'll get the same agents. They're in Ottawa open 7am-11 pm.
investigated. case closed. 1 800 931-1026- this is Canada Revenue Agency, collections department (if you owe them money); they work till 11pm, that's why to some folks it appeared suspicious. If you question them - they are polite and offer verification procedure- you can call main Fed.Gov't line (1 800 oCanada) and verify. Not to mention full gov't IVR menu and prof. manners. Don't be scared, if you don't ask like a**hole, they can be nice people too.
An old lady ( Mrs. prieur) with French accent called me from 800-931-1026 and told she is from Canada Revenu Agency ask for my Company Name, I said I don't deal anything over the phone, so ask her to send me in writing. She then gave me the revenue agency # 18009592765 in order to talk to her in the future and resolve it. She said it is Canada Revenue agency Business collection # and I google about both #s, and it is saying they are fraud. It should be report to the relevant authority.
They called me twice and hung up both times. The y did call my business phone. Why are they hanging up!
I received a call from this number, but unfortunately went on to give them my SIN and confirm my address and date of birth because I was concerned that CRA was actually trying to get a hold of me. If this truly is a scam, are there measures I can now take to prevent any damaging consequence?
It was Canada Revenue, they kept calling and not leaving a message on my cell so I didn't know who it was. When I called them to ask why they dont leave a msg. to identify them selves the guy says "I dont know".Can you talk to one of your supervisors about this... "well we get a lot of calls". My voice mail works fine for everyone else, I cant seem to get past the "its not my problem,I'm just donin my job attitude".
You need to contact the RCMP Anti-Fraud center and report the fraud. After that you will need to alert your bank and be on the lookout for identity theft attempts and other fraudulent activity in the future.
The callers are too unprofessional to be from Revenue Canada. One actually hung up on me when I asked that they send whatever question they had by registered mail. (And since when does the government need to ask for your SIN? Shouldn't they know that already?)They are spoofing the GOC-GDC and 800-931-1026 caller ID. If you call back, you will get the Government of Canada, but NOT the scam artists who called you.
