I also called. My Citi card is through Costco. They said that number does not service Costco cards. I told them that I received a call from that number and I wanted to know why, He said it may have been a "rerouted call".Beware.
This is a spoof phone # calling and is a scam. The people on here that say it's citi bank just because this # is on their website are incorrect. When someone performs a spoof call they can take the # of the company and use it for their scam FYI. When I called the # back I think it was citi bank? Although, I find it hard to believe that the first thing they would ask me is for my full SSN...I don't even bank with them. SCAM.
800-950-5114 called cell phone on 12/8/2017, did not answer call. 800-950-5114 is to stop calling, or both the number 800-950-5114 and citi bank-citi card will be reported for making a uwanted call. Have no credit card with citi bank. There is no reason for 800-950-5114 to ever call landline or cell phone.
Received a call from this number and didn’t answer. Looked it up here, but would tend to side with the scam crowd as I do not have a Citibank credit card...
Never give out information to anyone who calls YOU, for there is no way to know who THEY are! If they say they're from your credit card, then hang up and call the number on the back of your credit card. That way you know who you are talking to. Otherwise you may be giving out information to a criminal overseas who has just spoofed your caller id.
Where this is a legitimate phone number, I received a call from it but I don't have a Citi credit card. The automated voice said that my credit card's interest rate was about to go up. I hung up and called the number back and spoke with an agent to confirm that I did not have an account to worry about (as it is always possible that someone could have opened an account in my name). Therefore, the incoming call was a scam/phish and I urge everyone to hang up and call the number back directly and speak with a customer service representative.
Got a message from Citi card that called to question several recent transactions on my account. I checked my Citi Card account online and it had indeed been flagged for possible fraud by Citi Identity Theft Solution. They wanted to verify a couple of charges. I believe it's legit. Why don't they show their name on Caller ID? They show Toll Free Call?!?!
Caller ID Name generally uses a lookup table provided by your local phone company. Your local phone company will have the names of your neighbors and in-city relatives (along with all other subscribers). When one of them dials you, your phone company looks up their number and then fills in the CID Name data. If your phone company is big and has their act together, you can sometimes get CID Name for calls placed from other cities that they serve, but usually this doesn't work across company boundaries. However, Citibank is almost certainly NOT using your phone company to handle their 800 number, so it won't be registered with your local carrier. The long form of this explanation is a little more complex, and there are more edge cases, and the realities of CID Name are slowly getting better, but this should suffice to explain why this happened to you this way.... Got a call from 1-800-950-5114 the last couple days. All the "voice" (sounds computer animated) says is "if this is (says my name), press 1, if not press 2"....that's all, I don't press any buttons, just erase message, AFTER I checked 2 see who called first on Caller ID.
