gaboy replies to KreationsByKat8 Feb 2012Ebay knows there' s lots of scams out there wright? why the not communicating this trough emails like when let you know is time to pay your fees?-------...because everyone knows there are so many fewer email scams than phone scams, right?Do people even think before they post?-eBay calls their members, mostly sellers, and especially PowerSellers (like me).-if you are not getting calls, and are a PowerSeller, chances are you opted out (like, the first time they called you and you said "don't call me again" because you were paranoid that it was not really eBay)-this is the number that they have been calling from for several years-how would they know your eBay ID, name, AND phone number to call you and identify you by name and eBay ID?-i don't have to "prove" anything, when the burden of proof required is not that this is legitimate, but that it is not. In other words, all you paranoid people should call the number back, or contact eBay (whereupon you will be given a PIN number and phone number to contact eBay with - it isn't public without a request so that it will not be constantly phished - a protection for YOU, so you don't get scammed).
It's not a scam, it is Ebay. They rang me yesterday to ask me to change an items description which I was selling because I said it (the item) was better than a similar well known product. When I logged into ebay the same message was there as well.So it's not a scam but I'm cranky that they rang & woke me up.
I received a legitimate message from eBay from this phone number today. I just sold my first item on eBay last week, and it was a prerecorded message reminding me that some of my funds may not be available until a certain number of days after the delivery is confirmed. It also gave tips on shipping within 24 hours and buying shipping and tracking through eBay so I can get paid faster, etc. The message did not ask me to call or login anywhere or to do anything else.
Called for my son. Was going to e-mail him but needed permission. Told her NO Permission
This is not a spam number. This call is from eBay, they called because i have an eBay store and wanted to make sure everything was going ok.
Has it occurred to everyone that both sides could be right? Spoofing your caller id sounds like a pretty good way to convince someone you're legitimate...
Yes, it's eBay. Sometimes your caller ID will say eBay and sometimes, it just shows the number. They call Power Sellers all the time. I wish they didn't call as often as they do because they just reiterate what they've already sent you in seller update messages. They have never, ever asked me for any info. They DO sometimes ask for the account holder, by name. And, they DO call if there's an unresolved problem too.
Just got a call from this number. I am an Ebay Power Seller and never received a call from this number before. No Message was left, caller just hung up.
