Got a call that left a long message saying it was urgent, looking for a person, who they named and stated a case #. Said they were Josh Thomas and Asdociates. Left a # 877-414-5588. I called and said I didn't know that person. Very odd.
Received a report from a resident in Anderson CA. Unknown person called her husband Caller claimed to be Portland OR Police advising him that his wife had been killed in an accident this morning. Caller asked permission to harvest organs. Caller ID showed 801-823-2024. Upon call back to that number there is a recording regarding Chase Bank taking a survey. Called Chase Bank. That is not a Chase Bank # and they are not conducting a survey. Husband phoned Portland PD and confirmed no such accident
Got the same sort of thing---phone call, number revealed, yet this time no one on the other end. That "Tele-Zapper" device, that disconnects my phone from their phone is yet, again, worth every penny.Beware the frauds...
DO NOT GIVE THEM OR ENTER YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBERS AND PIN NUMBERS.This is a scam where Stammers are using Chase's own phone number and a system called "spoofing" to gain your account and pin numbers What they do is call you using their phone but have their number " spoofed" to Chase's Number. ( if you don't know what spoofing is read below and then do an internet search on the term.... "caller ID spoofing" ) .and they have fake automated recordings just as Chase's automated customer service would except when you enter your account and pin number THEY RECORD IT and now have that info when their fake auto systems are completed and hang up. they can now pull your account info, and now access your account and make withdraws & transfer money just like you. Since they are SPOOFING Chase's REAL Customer Service number it shows up on your caller ID as the real Chase customer service number and the same if you do a call back on the number ( you will get the REAL Chase Bank Customer Service )for the record...( I posted this for quick reference BUT PLEASE look it up for yourself) ..... Caller ID spoofing is the practice of causing the telephone network to display a number on the recipient's Caller ID display that is not that of the actual originating station. The term is commonly used to describe situations in which the motivation is considered malicious by the speaker or writer. Just as e-mail spoofing can make it appear that a message came from any e-mail address the sender chooses, Caller ID spoofing can make a call appear to have come from any phone number the caller wishes. Because of the high trust people tend to have in the Caller ID system, spoofing can call the system's value into question. ( from wikipedia )
Had two messages from this number on my answering machine today. Each time, a woman said "Hi this is so and so calling on behalf of Chase, may I please speak to (my name)? Hello? Hello? then they hung up. I am a long time customer of Chase, and have been getting these calls every few months; however I will never answer them. I don't do surveys.
I've received a few calls so far from this number 801-823-2024 and they have left messages and it is not a recording. The first one I couldn't understand what he was saying but his name was "Tony" and the last message said "This is Katherine Davis on behalf of Chase may I speak to ?". I too have called the Chase 800 number and they as well said they wouldn't make such calls. It has to be some sort of a scam.
Anonymous ID comes up on caller ID. They call 2 and up to 4 times a day and night. When it goes to machine they hang up. Today they left a message saying that it was about some credit card I do not have and they could help pay it if I owed up to $4000. on all of my cards. Another scam. I wish I could get their number to tell them I have do not call and I am going to report them if they call again but of course this is why they do not show a number.
