So 6.5 cents per pound to an organization that pays it's President and CEO Marsha Evans a yearly salary of $651,957 plus expenses in contrast to Salvation Army's Commissioner Todd Bassett, who receives $13,000 a year (plus housing) for managing this $2 billion dollar organization, where 96% of evey dollar goes to the cause. Goodwill works under the Red Cross model also. Know the 'charity' and support accordingly!

They whoever they are called me today @ 9:45PM. The only identifier on my caller ID was the number 813-811-1700-- no mention of the red cross but they would take donations too. Sorry but I think it's no"right" they left a message that didn't make sense & never mentioned the red cross. I think it is a scam, or an enterprising person or group opening a resale business---just think get stuff for zip means all sales are profit.

Got a call from them too. Didn't answer but came here to find out who called. Red Cross used to be 'good' but now I understand that way too much of their donations go to the non-profit exects working there. Check it out. Their head used to be Elizabeth Dole, who even back then, was paid about one half million a year to manage the place..

Could you explain how they managed to take more than $500 of your money?? It would help us avoid scammers to know their technique. Thanks.

04 March 2015 at 843PM received call. CallerID showed [813-811-1700]. Didnt answer it, went to recorder. First had recorded message as "...if you would like more info, or would like to donate...", then a male voice broke into recording. Asked for me by name, hello, hello, hello ??.....heard very heavy background noises of typical call center. no message left on recorder, hung up.Seems like they've started scammimg again....
