Also received a call today,..no one there, no message. I entered it in my Blocked Call address book.
Just got a call from these scammers on my landline. I will NOT answer calls that don't have their name listed, so I let it ring. It rang two times, then stopped. Googled the number, as I always do, and came across this. Thanks for the heads up, peeps!
Call on my cell phone from this number just a while ago - No message left -So glad this site is available to check on phone #'s I don't recognize.
A call from 816-527-6625 must be a scam. No message left and when I called it back, the recording said it was no longer in service.
I answered, 816-527-6625, because I was getting called almost every day. The call announces that I have "Won a free cruise!" and that I only need to take a short survey to claim said free cruise. The call appears to be a standard scam with a spoofed phone number... since calling the number back connects to Verizon and an automatic message that states the number is no longer in service.FOOD FOR THOUGHT: I am registered on both the federal and (Missouri) state no-call lists and the groups are virtually powerless to stop these types of scam calls. Since the scammers cannot be stopped directly, I believe the burden should be shifted to the call carriers - specifically, each phone carrier through which the call passes should be assessed an federal and state fine... say $500 per complaint. Such a fine should be expensive enough for the phone companies to block scammers who spoof through their systems. Since it would be simpler to implement such fines through our states, please send a short email to your state's attorney general asking for a law to fine phone companies for each spoofed scam call.
