Same message as Scam Stopper, with US voice. 5 calls in 3 days. It smelled like a scam so I didn't answer, but glad that others have checked it out with Comcast and verified my suspicions.
Received 2 calls from this number and I was reading the text script of the voicemail it said my card internet wasn't working and when I listened to the actually voicemail I couldn't make sense what company they said which is what made me doubt the call, repeated the same thing as everyone my internet was slow they need to check the modem . Luckily I looked up the number first
I got two calls from this number today, each accompanied with an automated voicemail stating that something was wrong with my equipment. I recently moved into an apartment and signed up for internet service with Xfinity, so I was surprised about getting a call like that when I just got my modem. My internet speed has been just fine, so I Googled the number to confirm my suspicions: definitely a scam.
Got weird phone call saying he needed to address my Comcast modem. Called me 6 times in the last week, this time I answered because I was annoyed. I immediately tried to test him to see if it was a scam like asking what address' wifi he was referring to. He said he needed to send someone to my home immediately to test my modem- which I said hell no to because he told me he could not have them email me to send up a time.
Supposedly it was Comcast (from India) callingbto gix a cable problem. Wanted me to do something with my modem. I said I'd call back.
Thanks to the previous msgs. I just received same type of call. I'll definitely block. Curious tho as I just signed with Comcast, How well do they protect the info we provide as a customer?
Received a call Twice.. person persistent about my modem,. SAID he was from Comcast. He wanted to send a technician to my home. , I told ,it was fine. So I called Comcast , check it out they said, it's a scan, BEWARE FRAUD IS OUT THEIR.
Hey, so I just received a call from this number. My buddy from the last 10 years who works at Comcast found the call record from the 855.873.6941, and the call was logged in their system. It seems legit. To the story...Super nice gentleman named Samuel called asking me to check on my modem, tighten the end on the modem and then the wall. He didn't ask for my name, information, Comcast Acct number, anything like that (which is my first red flag alarm for calls like these). I had just switched to a higher internet speed 4-5 days ago, so I wasn't surprised by the call. They saw some weird signals in my modem connection and wanted to send a tech out to check the premises for possible electrical damages, I said sure but then thought twice, came to this site, and saw some of the responses.I texted my buddy to check it out with a link to this web page and called the number back that Samuel provided. Whether it was legit or not, I have a three week old boy who hasn't been vaccinated yet, we are moving into flu season, and, since it wasn't an immediate concern, I canceled the visit.I called, spoke with a different rep, explained the story with my son, he responded super happy, authentic, and was a real person (I'm in sales and am on the phone literally all day for the last 6 years, so I've gotten pretty good with judging emotion via phone calls). Canceled appt, no problem. Then my friend at Comcast texted me back, saying the call was logged, call back number legit, and my account record was updated with the story I just typed.I'll monitor my internet over the next month or so to see if there are changes, but I would recommend taking down their callback number and rep name, call Comcast main line, check with them, and make your own decision from there.Either it's legit or quite possibly the most elaborate scam that is literally hacked into Comcast's own customer service network. Based on the evidence, it seems legit.
Glad this post was here. It smelled like a scam, and I thought maybe not when I called the number and it answered with "Thanks for calling Comcast," but further conversation proved Bill, above, correct. Pushed to get a technician into my home. My modem was working fine. I told the Indian gal "I'll call Comcast directly." Which I did, and they confirmed they DON'T call to "test modems" unless I have initiated the service request. Also confirmed that IS NOT a Comcast number. Hope this helps somebody. He also said, "Did they ask 'if you can hear them'?" As we need to be aware several scammers are just trying to get a recording of our voices to say "Yes" to somehow use the consent in other fraudulent ways. However, it seemed the gal was more insistent in getting a tech into my home for who knows what reason. Can you say "Robbery?"
