I ignored a call from this number on my cell phone (where they left a voice mail) and they immediately called my home number. My wife answered the call to the house and listened to a recording saying they were from Comcast and they needed to make an appointment to come in to our house and check our equipment. It felt fishy (we own our own modem) so I googled the phone number and ended up here.Based on the comments here, it is clear someone has access to the Comcast customer database and is using it to run some kind of scam. Scary that they had my cell and home numbers. Other here have said they knew detailed info about which premium channels they subscribe to. I can't decide if it is more likely that Comcast was hacked and they didn't tell anyone or if they are selling our information to scammers on purpose.Here is the text from the voice mail they left on my cell...> Hello I'm calling from Comcast. We've been attempting to reach you regarding an open service order on your account. Although you may or may not be experiencing any problems at this time. Our network monitoring system has identified issues with your home service and would like to schedule an appointment to check the equipment inside your home. This will be at no cost to you. Please call us at 855-873-6941 Monday to Sunday 9:00am to midnight Eastern Time. We need to speak with you before we can schedule your appointment. This is important as you may begin to experience service issues. If the appointment does not take place. Again the number to reach us at is 855-873-6941. Thank you and have a good day.

Got the same call, same heavy Indian accent and they knew my name, street address and that I just had a Comcast technician out the previous week for my business internet, but they said the problem was with my home internet. I went ahead and let them schedule a technician for the following week, then called Comcast customer service at the phone number on my bill. They confirmed that the call was from them, said that they have trucks with drive around the neighborhood detecting Wi-Fi leakage and wanted to check my modem. So the guy shows up but he's asking me what the problem is, I told him you called me!! He ask if he can replace the splitter in the attic with one that has ac power which should impove my connection. I let him install it but it reduced my internet download/upload speed by 75%. I made him take it off and leave. Once he removed it my speed went back to normal. The entire experience was very odd, and if there is a scam involved I'm not sure what it was. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I received a call today from the same number and explaining about an issue with Internet speed at my home. I did schedule a visit for this saturday but to double check went back to my Xfinity portal and noticed that the schedule was updated and visible under my account. So not sure at this point whether this is a scam or genuine as they seem to have even access to database to update the details of the scheduled visit. If this is a scam and they have managed to even get through the database then it is a serious threat...just wanted to share my experience too..

Got a call from a guy who said he's from Comcast and that our modem was identified as having issues. He asked me to do something about the modem...I said NO, I'm working at home today. Then, he said he will need to send a technician over and I hang up. He had this sense of "urgency" and I thought immediately it's a scam.

I had the same experience. It seemed odd to me, so I return their call, talked to a guy with a heavy Indian accent, he supposedly ran diagnostics on my modem and said a technician would need to come out. I set up the appointment although I was still suspicious. I called today to cancel and the same guy answered, again not typical for a call center. Thanks to everyone for your posts. I will call the real Comcast to find out how these scammers got ahold of customer information.

"Hello, I'm calling in regards to your current equipment. Our network monitoring system has identified issues with your internet speed, and we'd like to spend a few minutes with you to resolve the issue. Please call 855-873-6941 if you need additional assistance. Thank you and have a great day." (They hired a U.S. voice for the robocall.) The number is a spoof. I was called a day earlier by a live accented voice that resembled the Microsoft scam voice, this time, offering to fix my Comcast internet service.

Received a call from 855-873-6941 on my cell phone. Stated they were Comcast and needed to fix my internetspeed. Wanted to access via online. I told them 'No" Please be aware this is a scam. Call came from India or somewhere outside the US

This number left a voice message about my internet speed. I have not called back because my speed has been fine. I also just started this service, and I do not need any add ons at this time. I thought I may be Comcast because the message was by a native English speaker. They have call every day for three days. Then stop for about five. Blocking this number.

2 calls a day 5 days a week for weeks. Recording and finally answered one. Called comcast tech support said nope not us block the # and report it on some site that didn't exist. I asked if they wanted the # they called from to investigate it cuz if its not them then someone broke into their database with customers private info (and they were confused as to why I won't validate the last 4 of my ssn as account validation ugh) but tech support didn't seem to care. Staff has a short training period and there's a high turn over rate there. So I shouldn't be surprised nothing is getting done about this other than being told to block the # and report it on non existent non Comcast sites. Id recently upgraded my modem but haven't installed it due to a surgery. So nothing had changed. My kid is very tech savvy and sees nothing wrong with the speed.

I've received 8 calls from this number in the last week, I just hang up and it never leaves a message- today a message by a robot said it was about my "internet speed". My internet is just fine- it seems like this thread has put my instincts at bay- I also have comcast though and it looks like that is common with the others on this thread, perhaps their clients have been hacked.
