Dude yes! Your awesome i love it! When I read "clarese" say it was "scary" I instantly started laughing!!!! And your right nobody gives a [***] that someone in jail accidently called her phone what a seriously ignorant stupid person! What's the attorney general going to do about it? Pay a month of her rent for the inconvenience?! LOL
Admin Edit: "It's a SUSPECT message!"_________________________________You're an idiot, it's not a scam. It's an actual inmate trying to make a call. If you don't know anyone in jail then it's a wrong number. You're not going to be charged any money unless you accept the charges. I actually did this the first time I got the call worried it was someone I knew in jail, it wasn't. It was a wrong number and the guy was super apologetic. I missed a call from this number again tonight and came here to because I had forgotten about it and now that I read the posts it's come back to me. I can see people like 'Sad Mom' and others doing the same thing. I don't remember every 800# that comes into my phone. I called the number and one of the options is to talk to customer service. They were able to look up my number, when it was called and who the inmate was who placed it. I didn't know them so they've blocked that inmate from dialing my number from being called from that jail. Maybe before making posts telling everyone it's a scam you should do some research. Either answer the call yourself or do more research on the number side from here. The company that owns it is pretty big and has their own website. It's pretty easy to verify that it's legit. But that would take actual effort, wouldn't it?
Admin Edit: "It's a SUSPECT message!"_________________________________Got this number on my caller ID a few times and looked it up here. When I found out it was a jail I was worried someone I knew was in trouble and I was ignoring their calls. After taking a quick survey of everyone I gave a [***] about and knew none of them were in the slammer I answered it the next time the call came in and listened to the options. There is an option to refuse the call and block your number so I chose that. Hopefully that takes care of the issue. The recording also gives you their customer service number (it's the same one that comes up on the caller ID) to call if I continue to have issues so I'll try that if it happens again. Also, apparently the number traces back to whatever state the home office is in, so if you are in Florida or wherever just because the number of the caller ID says Washington it could still be coming from someone in your state, just routed through their lines in Washington.
I am a PI and Private Security Officer for Pride Investigations and Security in Heber City, Utah. Today one of the parents of one of our security officers received a call from this number 866-516-0115. They told her that her son was in the Uintah County Jail. They wanted her credit card number so that they could post bail. She called me because she was afraid her son was in some kind of trouble. I called our company phone at his work site and he was on duty where confirmed my suspicions that it was a scam. I told the officer to call home as his mom was worried about him. I also called her back to let her know that it was a scam and that she was wise not giving them any information. I've heard of this scam. One of my friends in Heber received a call from Canada tell them their grandson was in jail in Ontario. She called her grandson and he was safe at home in Salt Lake. So anyone who gets this call, it is a scam, and a very common one at that.
I've been receiving numerous calls per day from this number, both house and cell. I don't answer and finally did and it was some phony thing that I only got part of the message. I'm damned sick and tired of these repeated calls. Two of the calls came within 2 minutes of each other and my cell received 3 calls in 9 minutes.
This number keeps calling. I called it back and it said please check amount for prepaid amount. Sick of the calls at all times of the day and night. On voicemail it starts telling me all these numbers to push for different options.
I've received several calls yesterday from 888.729.4326 (an inmate from Benham Sheriffs dept.) and this morning I received a pre-paid call from 866.516.0115, couldn't answer driving to work, if he calls back I'm going to answer and let the dude know that I'm the wrong person he's trying to contact.
I received a call from this number and they wanted my birth month, year, my last 4 digits of my social security number and my zip code. I hung up. Do they always ask for all this info?
