called cell phone...indian (india) heavy accent,,hardly understand...would not identify herself...hung up...
At 9AM, on the dot, 12/13/15, a call came in and was BLOCKED. I had received this call previously and blocked it immediately.I suggest that everyone use call blocker on their phones. Eventually, these characters will get the message.
From reading the various comments I guess these companies must change/recycle these numbers constantly. My caller(Indian accent) called at 9am cst on a Sunday and told me to hold while he transferred me for an important matter. Ordinarily I like to play with them until they get annoyed and hang up in my face, but I was driving in a rain storm. So, I told him to state the nature of the call or I would hang up when he transferred me. He said they were calling to offer me an automotive product. I told him I was not interested and to never call again. Of course he said he was removing me from the list, but I know that was a lie because they call almost everyday from a different number.
No message left, but this number - 866-580-4780 - came up on my caller ID for 8:30 a.m. this morning with no identifying company listed. The number has come up before - four times in one day a week ago! 'Wasn't home to answer then and no message left. Today I was home but I don't plan to be answering no matter how many times. They can leave a phone message, or better still, send me a letter by mail with the name and address of the company and whatever it is they want.
Just as I expected. Another debt collector, but from another number Midland Credit uses. I got one call around 5:00 pm a couple of days ago. No message of course.Portfolio Recovery finally stopped calling me after about 3 years. I never did pick up, but lately I was hanging up on it whenever I was home.I started getting debt collector calls in 2009, looking for someone else. Still, I pulled my credit reports. Nothing amiss. After that, many agencies called but most gave up after a few months. Not PF, until April. Hope I don't jinx myself by saying that.....It seems this problem of debt collectors harassing innocent people by calling outdated phone numbers, some as old as 20 years, is big enough to catch media attention. It was on the news last week. Calling a number of a 13 year old's cell for example. These people never believe you when saying you're not that person, you've had the number over 10 years, etc. They just bully and threaten you over the phone.I never pick up and never will. They can keep calling and I'll keep not answering.
I too get calls from these morons, and so I assigned their numbers to a specific contact. I gave it a silent ring, but my phone still speaks the name of every caller. So I re-named the contact "sehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhx" and now I get a good belly laugh followed by some great fantasies every time they call. Keep 'em comin', boys!
