Male and female callers with heavy accents have been calling and asking for our 16-year-old daughter. When asked, they claim to be with some college; the name is unintelligible. There have been over a dozen calls in less tha a week. I intercepted one for the first time, and informed the caller that our daughter is a minor and does not accept calls from telmarketers. I used *69 to retrive the number, as we do not have Caller ID. I called the number and an answering machine stated "Thank you for calling Inspire Solutions." Nothing good showed up on an Internet search of the name!!! Are there laws against marketing to minors? If not, there ought to be!!!
Well - this should (hopefully) be the last entry from me regarding this number. Calls Friday, Saturday, none Sunday, and now again 8:28 and 10:35 this morning - Old Year's Day. I picked up on the second to see if I could find out who was calling. After my initial hello and a delayed answer (as if something was connecting in a call center) a voice with more India-n than oriental picked up and identified herself as Janet. First I note that most heavily accented voices, from other backgrounds are not named "Janet". She was calling from College.us.com for my son, who she said had left his information on life regarding police work. I said he was not available and who was she again and calling from where?? She repeated Janet and from college.us.com and it was because he was asking for information on police programs. (He is a senior in high school and interested in a criminal justice degree, but has so far applied to ONLY one school and they did not identify themselves in any way to that University.) I pressed her if she was representing other programs as well, and she was rather vague in her response. Yes they have information on other programs as well but then kept trying to redirect that HE REQUESTED INFORMATION on Police Programs. The thing is - he is after a criminal justice degree - not POLICE because they don't have "police" programs. You can go to a police academy in many states after age 21... but degrees come in the form of criminal justice, political science, law enforcement, etc., depending on the school.I told her that this was an unsolicited call and we had 7 calls in the last 3 days and why was she calling. We are on a national do not call list, especially for unsolicited calls like this. She kept saying ma'am but it keep sounding like mom... or maybe it was the other way around (smile) She was "just calling to verify his address and email, etc." She said he put a request in for information on the computer recently and she was just verifying his informtion. "What address do you have?," I questioned. I had to repeat that. Oh- hold on, she'd have to go look it up. She did. It was the right address. I again questioned - what email do you have? and she either gave me the right one or one that was very close to it... This is a student who has not put his name in the traditional places to get the hoards of junk mail that juniors and seniors get from all over the country. Although he and his sib sent information late last week to one school, that is the only school he has done ANY on-line activity with, to my knowledge, to this point. Again, "Janet" did not identify herself to that school. I proceeded to tell her that he not only would he NOT be asking for information on line, he certainly is NOT interested in on-line college programs and I want his information - name and phone number removed from their list and taken out of the system. Janet said ok and hung up. Will she? I don't know. But with this information documented here, maybe those that monitor this kind of stuff have a little more ammunition to help discontinue this kind of disruptions of our daily lives. Respectfully submitted, Nevada Mom.
I get a few calls from unknown numbers. Since I only own a mobile phone (can't afford home phone) I have to give out the mobile number to people. I make sure they understand that if they sell my number or pass it on, I will fight them with whatever legal means necessary as Voice Spam is not acceptable on my only line.A quick check of the unknown numbers usually lets me know if it's real or not. This number turned up this blog. Interesting... This is the first Voice Spam I've recevied in two years. Hope it's not repeated.
Constant calls. I called the number back and a recording identifying them as Inspire Solutions comes on.
They have called me twice asking for my daughter who is 8 years old .I told them to take me off the list and i told them i turned them into DONOT CALL.GOV .Today they called me and i told them the same thing .They are a company called Inpsire Solutions .That is very scary when they asked for your child .The person had an eastern accent
