Looks like another shill for the fraud here. Obviously these scumbags spend a lot of time depositing fake reviews here about the "legit" call they received. A lot of effort, but it only makes the scam more obvious.
I just got a call from this number after I tried to purchase an item online. They are a legit fraud protection agency that works for many banks. Banks hire them because they are 24/7 unlike the actual bank. They were very helpful and polite and explained why they called. I was trying to use my card online with another country and it wasn't working, the fraud protection company thought I had my card stolen or declined so they called. They explained why my card wasn't working and told me a few previous purchases I had made within the last 24 hours which were all correct.
This company never asked for personal information like my SSN or codes. In fact they only wanted to confirm my name when I talked to a representative. They also have a list of purchases I made in the past with my card and gave me the list to verify it was me. I think it's great for people to be concerned about companies like this. In fact, when they called me seconds after I tried to use my card, I was concerned that they were fake. So, I didn't answer and I looked them up and checked with my bank. Everything looked fine, so I called them back and they were very helpful and explained why my card wasn't working and why my bank hired them. The company is active 24/7 unlike most banks and they work quickly to help with potential frauds.
The "banker" asked you to verify 3 transactions. Did you verify them with your son? You claim you don't know if he had made any so I'm presuming you checked with him so you could verify with the "bank".
Got a call from this company today. I just made 2 charges and they called claiming to be Fraud detection company. I was skeptical because caller id said "Stephenson Nati", so I thought it was a spoofed ID and would not give them any info. I called my Credit Union (First Commonwealth FCU) to discuss the charges and find out if this company is legit. They ARE legit. The company is Stephenson National Bank & Trust. Look it up. They are outsourced by Banks and Credit Unions to do Fraud Protection calls. Otherwise, if you don't want to give them info, do like I did and call your bank directly and speak to the Card Services department.
Said they were contacting me reporting suspicious activity on my card.
Got a call from this number-- they left a recorded vm that it was the fraud detection center from my bank (HigherOne). Logged into my online banking account, saw that there was indeed a temporary hold on my account. Called the number back, went through an automated system and confirmed a few recent purchases. Did not have to provide any sensitive information, just the case number that was left in the vm message.
I don't answer 877#'s I don't know. This one did not leave any message, just dead air. I checked my accounts, and no suspicious activity. Got the call after my Bank closed on a Friday. I'm not calling back. Scam.
I don't know what I could say to resolve the discussion whether this is legitimate or not, so here's my story. I got the voicemail with the case number. Checked 800 notes and was still unsure. I called the local number for my bank on the back of the card. The bank said "looks like we did try to contact you" and my debit card had been put on hold. They marked the file, and unlocked my card. So, it sounds like my call was probably legit. But...My best advice is, with the ability to spoof legitimate phone numbers on caller ID, high-jack calls to legitimate numbers, etc., if you have any question about whether a call is legitimate, call the bank's number listed on the back of your card. Most of them are available 24/7 for calls, so you can take care of business even on the weekend.

Called, asked for me by name 3 times then hung up. I called them back and asked what type of outfit were they running, and he said, "I don't want to know." Definitely some type of scam. Blocked
