This is a legitimate bank fraud detection company used by many of the banks. They've been more than helpful to me when I had my debit card jacked. They called me when the charges were made and put a hold on the card.
I was hesitant to call back the number given, especially since my bank has posted security alerts. I called a number listed by my bank if I had a question about a call and/or text. It turned out to be a legitimate call as there was a temporary hold on my account due to unusual activity, which had been unusual for me. My bank was able to verify the necessary information and make my account available to me again.
While it IS a fraud detection company, I chose to call my bank directly. Yes they did have an open case on a charge that looked fraudulent but was actually legitimate. I went over my entire last billing statement with the lady on the phone at the bank and all is well. When in doubt, phone your bank directly.
This is a legitimate company. They called and left a message, and I returned the call - which was the same number that they called from. This is a fraud detection company that works with our bank. There were a couple of charges they questioned, and one was found to be fraudulent. At that point they said I needed to contact the bank to proceed, which I did. The bank already had all the info from this company.
They called and said my card could have been compromised. It started as a computer voice asking me specifics about a purchase etc. then a person came on and said there was a "suspicious" purchase originating in the Netherlands. #1 my card cannot be used overseas unless I call to say I am going overseas. #2, I called my bank and they said they do not use such a service. Beware!
They can't seem to identify me by telling them the number that they called ( no voice mail allowed on my number so I do not have a " reference number ". The rep then asks me for MY information."NO WAY"! I tell him. " You tell me what bank you represent." " " I can't tell you that until you tell me your name " I tell him: " If you can't recognize me by the phone number you called then I'll just wait until the business day ( today is Sunday ) to see who is calling.I know that one of my banks discontinued the use of my debit card as a credit card. They did not give me a list of place that I can no longer use it as a credit card although I have figured out that Walgreen's and CVS are two of the companies that I can not use my card as a credit card " But there are other companies and I have also figured out that if I attempt to use the card and it is declined I then get a phone call. For two weeks the toll free number started with 866. Now I'm getting calls from this 877 number. The joke about this fraud detection is that asking for then supplying the caller with basic thing such as the number they called AND your name is enough to work the scam backwards. I wonder when the banks are going to figure out that asking for critical information over wireless phone is a high risk situation. Couple that with not knowing where the person is when they ask you to supply that information is out and out stupid!I heard a girl in a booth at a restaurant supplying name, SS#, DOB, mothers maiden name, her dogs name, her boyfriends name and the last time she....fill in the blank. Anyone with-in ear shot could have had ALL of that information.A password would be much better because it is not aligned with the conversation that a person near by may hear. But this is too complicated for the genius's in the fraud department to understand.Good luck and think before you volunteer your personal information.
this is a SCAM company, i have done a lot of research on this number and its a SCAM, even the people saying "its legitimate" i believe are people from this SCAM company. never give your social security number or card expiration to any number like this. its a scam. call your bank. This is probably the best scam company I've seen to be honest. but a scam for sure.
I just received a call Friday. I had to call back with a case number no personal info. It was automated and verified last 3 transactions. The number belongs to GHA Federal Credit Union fraud detection. I found their website and the number that called me was there. I freaked out at first because my bank has never done this but now I'm glad to know they are monitoring activity !
