If this was cardworks, than they are a debt collector for Avanta. Works great for me since I settled with Avanta a couple years ago and sent a C&D to Cardworks. Time to call the lawyer.

THIS IS A SCAM!!! This group contacted my neighbors and my relatives and said I was in trouble for debt collection. This is a scam They try to scare people into getting personal information. Please dont call them back you will be harrassed forever. Just ignore calls from this group and contact your local sherriff department to report.

That is untrue. SOL for NY is 6 years. After the 6 years of no contact they cannot sue you for the debt but they have every "slummy right" to try and collect.

My Bankrupcy lawyer told me 7 years from the date of the original report. They can report all day every day but once it's 7 year you can wave it goodbye! So many people get tricked and so damn gullible! Read a law book....

Then why is "debt older then 7 years" an option when you submit a dispute on your credit report, duh
