Thanks for the feedback, Donald. Let me share this story with you, and everybody else. There's an outfit with a Calif. address that calls itself "Chase Collections". Judging by their illegal, barley legal, egregious, asinine methods, they must be a department of Verizon. They call me, and quite a few others about "past due" Verizon bill(s), nothing else. One of their tactics is to call people several times, and ask for someone else - who they must know don't even exist. (don't ask me WHAT the he** that's supposed to accomplish) After about the 12th such call, I asked HER why they continually call here asking for someone they had to know doesn't even exist. HER reply was right to the point "...go F*CK Yourself...!!" Then she hung up. I immediately called back, and told whoever answered (none of these people have names) that, if I EVER get another call like that, I will immediately report them to the authorities. They sent me 2 letters (anonymous, of course) over the next 30 days asking for payment. I sent a reply, via Certified Mail/Return Receipt invoking the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (a Federal Law), recalling their egregious conduct, refusing to pay them, and telling them I want no further contact. I have heard nothing further from them. BTW, this was all over a $140 cell phone bill, which was, and always will be unpaid. Verizon, it you're reading this - sue me - please.
"past due" to Verizon can mean only a few days. They have absolutely no scruples, ethics, or moral fiber. They are just trying to make "brownie points" internally by "collecting past due bills".
Welcome to Verizon, Bill. If you want to read some REAL interactions with Verizon, read my posts on this thread. (I try to arrange my life so I don't have to lie, and I never exaggerate. With Verizon's dishonest, illegal, barely legal, egregious behavior, I don't have to lie, or exaggerate !)
"Past Due" to Verizon could mean just a few days. These people have no scruples, ethics, or moral fiber !. They are just trying to make a few "brownie points" internally, by collecting a bunch of "past due bills".
It's probably an outfit that calls itself "Chase Collections", which is an "arm" or department of Verizon. They are set up as a California corporation, with a "Board of Directors" not actual employees of Verizon. So, they can state that they "are not Verizon" and be, strictly speaking, not Verizon. Yet, they call Verizon customers exclusively, and harass and annoy them for Verizon bills only, and sometimes for bills that are only a few days old. But, make no mistake, they are de facto Verizon. Their illegal, barely legal, egregious, asinine methods mimic exactly Verizon's business methods. I guess they set up "different" phone numbers for what the government's "intelligence community" (laughingly) calls "deniability".
People, people PEOPLE!! Read, I mean REALLY READ these posts. For about the hundredth time - THIS IS VERIZON!!! It's a department, or arm of Verizon, set up as Chase Collections, so they can masquerade as "not Verizon", if somebody bit**es. Or, it may actually be one of Verizon's employees. The fact that it is a "robo-call" starts out by being against the law, because robo-calls are illegal almost everywhere! Then, if you read these posts, you will see that they call at times of the day that are illegal for them to do so, and call multiple times in any one day - also illegal. It's a violation of Federal law, and almost every state law, to use the telephone to harass and annoy someone! So, even before the conversation begins, they have already broken at least 3 laws! It seems they are trying to make themselves look good to the "higher ups" by collecting "past due" amounts - even if they have to use illegal, barely legal, sometimes asinine methods to do it. "...by any means necessary..." seems to be the rule. From what I experienced, and what I read of other's experiences, "past due bill(s)" can mean a bill that's only a few days old, or a relatively small amount. I had them, masquerading as Chase Collections, call me repeatedly and ask for someone they had to know doesn't exist. When I asked HER what was the point of doing that, her reply was right to the point. She said "...go F**k your self !!!" then she hung up! I immediately called them back, and told whoever answered (none of these people have names) that if I ever had another call like that, I would immediately report them to the authorities. There have been no more calls from them. BTW, all of this was over a cellphone bill for $140 - then only about 2 months old - and remains, and always will be UNPAID. i'm preparing a complaint which I'll deliver in person over the phone tomorrow which should but blisters on their azzez. If I don't get the results I want, then it's back to the State Public Service Commission.
Verizon. Yes, the bill was past due. Yes, I've been getting poorer over the past 12 years. Yes, I have to juggle bills each month. Yes, I need to budget better. But I paid the bill a week ago. Why are they calling me now?
