This is absolutely not true! I called them numerous times and they assured me that 888-671-2468 is not a Wells Fargo number!

Just got the same call. I called Wells Fargo immediately and this is NOT from them. 100% Fraud. I was told that they just call random #'s hoping that someone they call actually has a Wells Fargo account and panics, calling the number and giving their account number, the scammer is hoping it is an actual savings or checking account that they can go in electronically and clean out. DO NOT EVER GIVE ANY INFORMATION TO ANYONE CONTACTING YOU. If you did not initiate an original inquiry it is probably a scam. To all the posts that are claiming this is legitamate you are just low life scum trying to rip off innocent people. You will get your "Karma" back at you eventually.

I answered the call because I had just seen that our visa had a "hold" on it for possible fraudulent activity! Someone in the Netherlands was trying to order flowers... and someone in England was trying to join a dating site! Both were rejected, but Wells called me immediately and my card is now closed! This was a Wells number in my situation... but I agree - never volunteer information when THEY call YOU - go to the number on your card, or on the bank site.

Let me clarify this further - I just called the number again because we think we know where the fraud may be originating from... this number is a "THIRD PARTY" that verifies the information to see if the charges are YOURS - then they transfer you to you own bank - so everyone is kind of right. BUT - they are legitimately trying to identify the fraud - and helped us... but they are not specifically WELLS FARGO - they are a third party for many companies... just wanted to clear that up.

I can confirm that this is Wells Fargo. I called back and spoke with someone who had access to my account information. All that I provided was the last four of my card # and my billing address and they went over the specific charges that had been flagged as fraudulent. It turns out they were indeed fraudulent, so he was able to cancel my card and send me a replacement card in the mail (supposed to arrive in 7-10 business days). The reason I'm positive this is Wells Fargo (beyond the fact that they did not ask for any further identifying information and were only being helpful) is as soon as the conversation was over I checked my account at wellsfargo.com again and sure enough, the card had been cancelled. Obviously if this was some third party, they would not have had access to Wells Fargo's internal systems.^^ lmfao at how paranoid some of these people are, hahaha...

Received a call from 8886172468 and do not wish to get a call from them again.

I just called WF to verify and it's their legit number. If you're getting calls from this number, WF is trying to verify some transactions that they find suspicious. You can always call WF directly to talk about it, if their system makes you nervous.

I RECEIVED THIS CALL CLAIMING THEY WERE CALLING FROM THE WELLSFARGO BANK FRAUD DEPARTMENT- WHEN I TRIED TO GET A LIVE PERSON, BECAUSE IT WAS ASKING TO KEY IN ACCOUNT NUMBER.. IT DID NOT TAKE ME A LIVE PERSON.. I CALLED THE REGULAR WELLS FARGO NUMBER AND I WAS TOLD THIS WAS NOT A WELLS FARGO NUMBER AND NOT TO GIVE OUT ANY INFO.

I get constant calls from this number and they leave a recorded vm for me to call them back. I cut ignore it but it is a bit irritating.
