I've a do not call number

I did not answer. I also have a do not call number, which seems to be ignored by many. It was AARP, with a health care message. Message about calling senators to sponsor health bill to include the availability of generic drugs for medications on which the big drug companies have a lock. If you agree, number to call is 800-294-7978.

Have registered several times with DO NOT CALL. Still get unusual amount of calls. Mostly from toll free #s but anonymous and unknown telemarketers as well. This # I did not answer.

As with any federal or state government, the lobbyists have diluted this beyond a functional program for their constituents. We can thank the lobbyists for creating a loophole for some... From the donotcall.gov website----------"calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls."----------As you can see this is a significant loophole that is self-serving and leaves a wide path for other calls.

They are just spamming telephones again - wish these folks understand than when you ask not to be called and they continue to call that makes in no way would I ever help their political issue,cause or charity. They just don't care about other folks by continuing to call daily/weekly so it make you want to support the opposite position. LOL

me too.. I keep getting calls from AARP also.. I do not answer normally...but when I do.. line goes to silence for about 60 seconds then plays a recording which is deleted on the fly. Interesting how AARP feels immune from complaints against them.. and thinks they have some sort of right to destroy the quiet enjoyment of my home by calling.of course, AARP sees itself as another legitimate beltway organization.. and as such.. like the others.. is ran for the benefit of those that run it.But as a self-proclaimed senior lobby, they sold out.. why? they get more money from US Government to study issues of the aged for the Govt than they take in in memberships. So they readily sell out or face grant monies vanishing. So, they are as any other lobby group... feeding at the public trough.. they "[***] themselves out" routinely.. it's just good business for them. Sons of Bushes all.

I am a member of AARP. I don't answer numbers I don't recognize. When I go to the AARP website, particularly to read the daily bulletins, I always get a page first advertising a free quote on Auto/Home, etc insurance through the Hartford...which I already have. I have to delete this page (which will not delete until the entire ad page comes up!!) So, I thank the other people on this list for the info--esp. about the lobbying.

Unwanted. AARP should know better. I'm on the NO CALL LIST. Perhaps you could review its status.

It's AARP pitching their wares or political messages. If you are a member of AARP, under the Do Not Call rules, they are allowed to contact you unless you request them not to. If you call the number back, you can say "representative" and have them remove your phone number and do not call. I did this and so far it has worked.
