My son received a call from 918-0375-2671 stating the warranty on his car had expired. They asked for year and make of the car. First sign that it's telemarketing....they ask you for info. We asked for a call back # & were given 866-550-8689. When I asked the name of their company, the caller refused to answer. I told her our warranty had not expired and again asked for the name of her company. Her answer, "You know what? Just forget it.". Click. Sorry to the girls whose #'s are being used. Is there another authority I can report this call to?
Just got a call from this number, but didn't pick up.After reading all the comments, I hope they don't continue to call. :(
Good Morning Folks: Just wanted to put in my two cents here. I too have received calls from 918-375-2671. At least this is where the caller ID system says they come from. However, I'd like to point something out here. You can file this under "for what it's worth." Read on, and have sympathy for the victims of this -- as we're now all subject to becoming victims. About two years ago I came to the conclusion that the caller ID system itself has been hacked, not just individual phone numbers - the entire system. My suspicions were confirmed last year by an article that appeared on the cover of the Tucson Arizona Morning News Paper "The Arizona Daily Star." That article gave a brief description of a subscription service that was being offered to law enforcement and investigative bodies. It would permit the subscriber to send fake information to any caller ID box/display. The intended purpose was to aid in locating and capturing fugitives. That article also stated that there were collection agencies, banks and credit card companies who were signing up for this service. Guess why?! It does not take an Einstine to figure out that this technology has escaped the proverbial lab and is now in the hands of profoundly less ethical individuals. As a result, we can no longer put absolute trust in the readout displayed on our caller ID units. What to do? Do what I do. If you don't recognize the number D O N ' T answer it. These people rely on the fact that people answer their phones. If enough of us don't respond to numbers we don't recognize they will have to start using other methods. The down side to this is that today it's 918-375-2671. Tomorrow, it could by your neighbor's number, your father or mother's number, your kid's number -- Y O U R number, or mine. There's no way of knowing until it happens. This is just the newest wrinkle in a very old scam, and with the technology at hand anyone can do it from anywhere in the world. I came upon this site through looking up the suspect number on line. I've found a lot of such numbers over the past two years. It started with a high volume of hang up calls on my answering machine received particularly between the hours of 4:30 PM and 10:00 PM local Tucson Az time. It seems that these people think that this is the best time to ply their trade. That's when I subscribed to caller ID. I have been able to correlate the hang ups with the bogus numbers by Googling what the caller ID box says. In the beginning, the numbers simply did not come up as valid on Google. Now these scammers are using actual numbers from people who have no idea what's going on -- until it's too late. J. T.
Ya and i got a call this morning at 7:30 am didnt answer: so i googled it and like the rest of you i got here SO after reading all these reports of this bogus telemarketing scam i have to wonder if the clown actually sells any warranties ? Wouldnt it be funny if the scammers car breaks down in the midddle of a desert like oh say... "Death Valley" (Power failure of some electrical nature) and has a dead cell phone battery and no way to charge it!...Wishfull thinkingNow that wouldnt that be poetic Justice!
Ok i Might be dwelling on this but i have to wonder how many people actually bought a bogus warranty?...THats the scary thing ...someone wouldnt be doing this if it didnt have some results! Or perhaps its another form of off the wall entertainment for some twisted sence of humour and here we are just playin right along ..........Well at least i didnt buy a warranty!
Warrantee - phooey! More likely they're after your accounting info. I think that if anyone did make a purchase from these people they'll likely to discover that they're in deep with their bank, and not from ligit purchases.
1:36 Fri May 30 oklahomahave had others from OhioGot a letter in the mail for a vehicle extended warranty, I called the number. It connected, but didn't complete call. I have been getting calls since. I do not know if it happened together or if it is just the time all this started.
