If a bill collector call you, by law if you answer, they have to talk to you. If they do not that is considered phone harrassment. If they do talk to you in some states they can only talk to you a specific number of times within a 7 day period. All states are different. I know this because I am a previous bill collector and know a lot of the laws but they change frequently. Everytime someone sues a company for BIG money, the rules change on contacting "debtors".Talk to your local phone company on how to track the calls then press charges for phone harrassment. The police will get involved. It does work, you just have to work hard to get the info you want. No need to change your number.
Yeah, this is GE Moneybank. What many people don't know though is that your Wal Mart Card as well as Care Credit and many other "lenders" are actually just front companies for this mafia style lender.They charge 33.9% interest if you're late ONCE.If you need a loan, go to a credit union or a loan shark. Either one will give you a better rate and be more understanding that you just lost your job. They also don't pattern their collection policies on Stewie from Family Guy (Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom, Mama, Mama, Mama...).
They call til 10 at night. One day alone they called 31 times.I suggest you call Mark W Begor (203) 762-3902he's the CEO of that crappy GE Money Bank -from now on, for every call they make to me, he is getting one of his own. let's do what they do - just keep hanging up every time his home machine picks up. we should let him know how invasive and violating of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act this is. and it's legal for us to return calls - he needs to be responsible for his rude employees and illegal tactics.
