got a koodo phone. same deal. I personally think it's peer to peer websites that sell our info...like facebook. that's actually part of their EULA if you sit down and read the thing. It's only legal to give our personal information out to people who have paid for it for the purposes of market research. gross huh?
This number appeared on my screen as well, I live in Montreal and I'm with Fido. Was wondering what this was all about and I see all of your comments on this page!! I'm shocked! I never answer unknown numbers in case of scam ....
If any of you have a PC Mastercard (in Canada), this group has purchased their phone list (and probably many others). The number of mine they called is a corporate office number that I only gave to PC Financial....in the 20 years I've had this number, I never received a call outside of the office, within 2 weeks of opening the PC MasterCard account, I started receiving calls from several unscrupulous organizations. If you read the cardholder's agreement for the card (it's on page 4 of the agreement), once you activate the card, PC Financial has the right to use your information for their purposes. The Canadian Do Not Call list does NOT include numbers for which you have a business relationship with (and if this site allowed hyperlinks, I would include the document).Since it is illegal in Canada for you to be denied credit because you don't have a phone number (just because the banks say it's mandatory - it's not), it is best not to give them a phone number (or a phony one)
i recieved a call from this number too and i didn't answer , i had a feeling that it might be a scam
I got a call from a similar number last week. The gal said I won a trip to Florida. I wanted to see what they were up to, so I started giving them false information. They want a lot of information for this "free trip". She tried to pry my credit card details, without asking directly for them. Would ask me for which type then "confirm" the first four digits, then later asked for the expiry, then later in the call asked for the last 4 digits....I told her I couldnt give her more info because I was at work and to call me back. I then added that number to my unwanted callers list. They got a recording that I would not accept calls from that number. They then called me from the 979-446-0366 number. This scam is being run out of Texas, but several cities to fool people. And APPERANTLY....the police dont care about these companies, they are fine with them scamming people. There is nothing you can do to stop them from scamming some poor naive granny from her life savings!!
so this is some bs scam i called back and it went to a busy tone im from swift current saskatchewan
