They asked me to verify that I had made a purchase for 2 coats (which I had) with last 4 digits of my credit card. They claimed to be from Amazon. He was a foreign accented man. Thing is I don't use my home number only my cell and the call came to my home. Is this a fraudulent call?
I got the call this morning from a lady with a bit of an accent. She kept saying my amazon visa card and I was like I don't have an amazon visa just amazon. But anyway she goes on to say that there was suspected fraud charge for $1410. I told her it's not my charge and she said she will go ahead and cancel the order and that I should contact my financial institution. She also said she will send an email to me about the call and I asked her what email do they have on file....she said for security purposes they are not allowed to see the email address. I did get an email 5 min later with the title:Recent charges from Amazon.com. The email address used is: account-alert@amazon.com and the email says:Hello,We believe that an unauthorized party has registered an account with your Visa ending in 40. To protect your information, we have closed this account and canceled any pending orders. We recommend that you review all recent activity on this card and report any unauthorized charges to your financial institution. If this account was closed in error, please reply to this message. We are unable to say how your credit card information was obtained because that happened away from the Amazon.com website. Some techniques include using malicious software to capture a user's keystrokes, trying commonly used passwords, and sending fraudulent emails that ask users to provide or update personal, financial, or other account information (commonly known as "phishing").To learn more about safe online shopping, visit the "Security & Privacy" section of our Help pages.Sincerely,Account SpecialistThat 40 ending is an amazon store card not a visa card and when I checked I did not see any fraudulent activity. So I am not sure if this is legit or not since she has my card as a visa card which it is not...but I will say that I didn't have to offer or verify any information just confirm whether I placed that order or not.
NOT legit. Called (left 2 voice mail messages) to "confirm authorization." Amazon would know that my Amazon account has been closed for MONTHS!
I just received this call, he told me a name and ask if it was right, I told it that it was, then I started to speak italian and told him I could not hear good because his voice was too low, then he just told me "have a nice day" in italian
They called 2 of the phone numbers i had associated with my amazon account. Asked if i had made a $333 order , but i hadnt. My cousin had though , but off of his own personal amazon account. This is NOT amazon , how come a stupid heavy accent indian [***] is always calling (incoming) but when i call the number someone else answeres ? This number is a scam.
This is an Amazon Fraud Prevention line. They called me to verify unusual pending charges from an Amazon account I did not create. Someone had stolen my cc number and was using it. I disputed the charges.
It is NOT amazon. I too called Amazon & they said it was not them! Also had 4 fraudulent charges the same day.
This is for sure a scam. I had someone call from "amazon" to see if i would like to "go ahead with my purchase, or cancel it" for an order and gave me the last 2 digits of a credit card. I neither confirmed nor denied the the last 2 digits they gave me, but said cancel it... I did not order what they were asking about. I felt something was very suspicious... Since when does amazon call you? I called my credit card company & had 3 attempts as well as one fraudulent purchase on my card, which i subsequently cancelled. They do have the phone number set up to answer as if they are amazon. (i called from another number) but then i called the real amazon, and they said it is not them. Beware! They are fishing for info. So disgusted that human beings do this to one another!
It is not really amazon. I called the real amazon, and they don't make these calls. They could be hacking amazon, or just hacking.
