i got this call after i purchased egift card in amazon site, i went google it and found this site then i send email to amazon costumer service to make sure my order is good, Amazon replied they cancel my order because of scam number that i report to them...now i doubt to buy egift from Amazon

The same exact thing happened to me. I had ONE fraudulent charge after verifying my name, minutes later. I canceled the card immediately.

Received a call from a woman with a thick accent claiming to be from the Amazon Verification Department. (I didn't answer, but she left a voicemail). I had purchased a $1,200 camera on Amazon about 30 minutes before the call, so it made sense they'd need to verify it with me. She did not provide a call-back number, but said they'd try me again in a little bit. I contacted Amazon directly by email to see if that was one of their phone numbers, and they said yes. They responded, "Yes this is from Amazon they were checking regarding the order that was placed and get general information from you." It was Amazon, but I still recommend contacting them directly if you have doubts or are uncomfortable, as I was.

My credit card had a fraudulent purchase after the phone call. And I gave this number to Amazon and it was verified that this number is NOT NOT NOT Amazon. They are verifying pieces of info, connecting name to card and bam they make a charge. They have access to Amazon's order numbers and this scam has even been using the same number for over a year as far as these comments illustrate. This disgusts me.

got a call tonight from Amazon with the same $110 charge......thick accent....i immediately called my credit card company and as we were speaking someone was trying to use my card on Amazon
