yea and now they will make charges on your credit card, congrats. They are NOT Amazon.
I asked as well...they couldn't tell me.....if they don't know then who does...... call CC company and had card shut off.
I received a call from this number, answered and was told by a man with a heavy accent that he was calling to verify a $500+ order on my credit card. He said a coworker of mine had made the order on their account with my credit card and was calling to get my approval on the order. I declined to speak with him. When asking for his name and phone number to reach him at, he game me "John" and no number to call back before abruptly hanging up. According to this twitter thread with Amazon Customer service, it's been happening for years and they've verified it's not an Amazon account.
Male caller with Middle Eastern accent left voicemail said he was calling from Amazon to verify a purchase. Have already received all my current purchases and Amazon has NEVER contacted me by phone unless it was a Prime Now delivery. Amazon.com has always contacted me by email if there was a problem. I double checked that no new orders had shown up on my account. But the weird thing was my cell phone went a little crazy and the phone page went white and wouldn't show contact, phone pad, or phone calls until I turned phone completely off for several minutes. Once it worked again I deleted the number.
They are the scam. The people who called you are the ones who stole. This just happened to me too.
Received a call from this telephone number about an hour after I spent a long while speaking with a customer service supervisor - a call I initiated. As I had been having issues with my Amazon account, I asked them to use a password/response which the caller had correct. It is apparently an Amazon service contractor but they do an excellent job of appearing shady. Their reps are barely intelligible - as a person for whom English is a second language, I am not dinging non-native English speakers but given that a good part of Customer Service requires understanding and being understood, perhaps more stringent communications skills screenings would not be amiss. Add to that the absolutely horrible connection quality (Overlapping voices, connection dropping in an out), I blame no one for thinking this is a scam number.
