I also live in Vermont, and got a letter from the State Dept. of Health saying a company would be calling me for market research. So, it's my own state that gave them my phone number, and are paying them to call me, and paying for the stamp to mail the letter saying they're going to be calling. It's annoying, but good to know it's not a random telemarketer. I hate those guys!
I simply called them up, hit "o" for the operator, asked how I can get removed from the list and the operator was extremely nice and asked my number and then said he would have it removed. We will see if it is removed or not.
I got calls from this company at least 2 times a day and I refused to answer the phone thinking its a collections company (before I did any research) And the day I do answer they happen to be doing surveys for NYS Dept. of Health.. And I mentioned to the rep that I was on the DNC list, and the response I got was "This is for government research and Government agencies are exempt from the Do Not Call list." (which he is right.. if Homeland Security wanted to hire a company to do research for them, they can call, whether your number is on the registry or not) I told him not to call again because I do not want to participate and hung up.I got a call again from another rep a day or 2 later, and was asked again if I wanted to do a survey and I responded more nicely and asked not to participate. The Rep asked why and I simply said, "I don't have time and that I rather not particpate, but could you please take my number off your calling list." That was 2 days ago and since then no more calls. As long as your polite and not rude, these people will take your number off their calling list.
Got a call from this number yesterday. Asked the nature of the call and a woman with an accent said it had to do with someone in the household who has diabetes. I told her no one here had diabetes and to remove my number from the calling list.Today, I got a call from this number and a woman (no accent this time) said she was doing a survey for the Pennsylvania Department of Health in conjunction with the CDC. She asked if she was speaking to me on a cell phone. I asked her how that was relevant to anything regarding health and she told me she just needed to verify that she was speaking to me on a land line. I told her that I had received a call from her number yesterday and had asked not to be called again. Would you believe !! she said she didn't believe that anyone called from that number because her information states that there was no survey. I told her that she had better remove my number and if I heard from her again she could do the survey with my attorney.Having done Market Research myself, I know how it works. Arguing with the interviewee will get you nothing.
We've been getting one or two calls a day from this research company for 3 weeks or more. We did not answer for two weeks but it was getting ridiculous. They told my wife they wanted to speak with the oldest make in the household for a NY Dept of Health survey. Next time I had a chance to talk, I answered and told them I did not want to participate in the survey, please take us off their call list, and never call back. Unbelievably, they called twice the very next day! When i got home, I called the number on caller ID, selected the options for the appropriate survey, then selected the option to speak with a supervisor. I expressed my displeasure. She explained that they need two negative confirmations before they stop calling. I gave her my second and asked that they never call again. She agreed that she would remove me from the survey. I highly advise calling them if you are bothered by these calls. It took two minutes or less to put an end to it.
You're all ridiculous. Did you know that after you do some of Clearwater Researchers surveys they send you money for helping them out? I bet now you're interested. I've been doing surveys with these people for YEARS and have been cashing those checks they send. It's a phone call- you probably spend more time in the bathroom everyday. It's not the end of the world. Grow a pair people, it's pathetic.
I don't understand why they need 'two' confirmations from the same house.Shouldn't one 'no' suffice? In any event, I'm not answering my phonewith these guys..and they call at least once every two days...stopped for a few days, then they start up again.
I have been getting multiple calls per day on a line reserved for emergency use for disabled person. There seems to be nothing valid about any of these calls and I have received 80 so far. I am logging the calls now and will submit the information to my state and federal representatives and the Public Utility Commission in hopes that Clearwater will have some taste of what it means to be harassed when one is just trying to survive and live independently at home instead of in some cripple warehouse.
Getting calls daily from this number - over 2 weeks now. Don't know why they don't give up.
