I answered the phone, and a recording started: "This is survey 2010. Do you own a small dog?"I hung up and filed a complaint with the do not call registry at the FCC website.
Call at 11:30 A.M. --- from this Idaho # ---- recorded message asked if I owned a small dog --- I did not listen the rest of the spiel ---- hung up. BUT...I am registered on the Do-Not-Call list and would like to know how this call was able to come through????????
they called about 5 times in 2 minutes. i finally answer "do you own a small dog?"then "shshshs" and it hung up.on my caler id it says "Couer D Alen ID"
Got a call from this number. Caller ID shows: Coeur D Alen ID. Did not leave a message on the machine. Kinf of just hung up where you know they're placing (not gently) the phone head piece in the cradle. I too have a Do Not Call Registry and unpublished number. That doesn't stop the solicitations for one minute. The Do Not Call Registry is a joke and the enforcement is a bigger laugh. My unpublished number is worthless once you give it to one person, it's like a barrel of maggots. The best way to handle these calls is let them talk to the machine. Don't give them the opportunity to hang up on you or harass you in person. That has to piss them off.
I've done more research on this...This is a scam. They are trying to record you answering "yes" to some question; Once they record your "yes" response, they will charge your phone number for a long-distance call, a product or a serivce that you do not want or didn't authorize. When you dispute it the charge they will play a recording of someone from their company asking you an entirely different question followed by the recording of your voice saying "yes." Just hang up & place the number on your "Blocked-Caller List"BTW, teh selector below does not have a pull-down choice for "FRAUD" or "SCAM"
I too got a pre-recorded message the call came in at 12:51 pm on 8/20/10 from a Coeur D Alen ID on the caller ID I will be reporting this message to the FCC and will block the number disallowing it any further communication with me
Did you actually see an unauthorized charge, or does your "research" consist of other people's paranoid guesses? If they really wanted to record you saying "yes", they would ask a question that would yield more "yes" responses. Don't call it a scam without proof.
Just received the small dog call. Who are these people and what info are they really getting by making these calls?
The problem is that surveys, even seemingly silly ones, are indeed allowed and not prohibited by Do_Not_Call laws. Thanks to all the folks who are reporting legal survey (or whatever) calls to this data base we have more bad data jammed in there. When on occasion they do investigate these numbers, because of a larger number of reports, there is nothing they can do and they we have all just wasted the limited resources available to go after the ones who do real sales-pitch marketing (which is illegal). The people who don't understand the laws and jam in all those invalid complaints are just helping the real law-breakers.This has been reported on other numbers doing that survey. Its the CCAdvertising guys working on their contract with TEA party PACS.Opt off the list by sending mail to that gjoseph character. Some of you probably got on the list by signing that DrillBabyDrill petition, in which case you are getting just what you deserve, not because of the nature of the politics, but because this is what they do, they all give each other all this data.
