This is not a scam to get someone to say yes. For one thing those asked a series of questions to get somebody to say yes. For example "Are you currently working?" "Are you currently unemployed?" "Are you retired?" "Are you a student?" That last example may exclude a few folks like wealthy independent investors, but it draws a high percentage of "Yes" answers. There have in fact been those third party billing scams, but that isn't what this is.On the other hand ... now you know how Urban Legends get started.
I don't think this is a telemarketer which is why they're getting through the Do Not Call list. I think it might be a scam. I would advice to making a police report and not answering again. The more people to file a complaint the better.
Your wrong !! *57 Only logs the number in your phone carriers computer and you have to keep a record of each call yourself. Then after a reasonable number of the prank/fraud/illegal calls fromthe same number, you call your phone carrier back and make arrangements and coordinategoing down to your local court where the judge/commissioner that issues warrants makes contactwith your carrier to issue a warrant. Once again, *57 in no way has anything to do with Verizon(your carrier) doing any investigation other than flagging each number you *57 in order to provide your phone carrier with the alleged scammer, and their number. If you have any questions, call your local phone company and ask what you do after you have a listof numbers you have *57 .It is required you make a log of your own of the time and what happened or what was said each time you*57 a number.Thank you
Very easily.....it's added to your phone bill. They have your phone number when you answer it and then record the yes answer to plug into altered digital recordings. Like others said, if disputed, they play a recording of your approval. Besides, most people don't check their phone bills for bogus charges.
I got this call today. I did a search online for "small dog survey phone scam" and this is what I found:There is an unusual tele phone “sur vey” going around. Some one calls, says they are tak ing a sur vey, and asks if you have a small dog.Why in the world would they ask that? Appar ently third-party groups (aka scammers/crammers) want to record a “yes” in your voice. They can later use it as proof you agreed to addi tional phone bill fees; that is, once the recorded “yes” is spliced and diced onto a new ques tion. So if you’ve got ten this call, they aren’t after your dog, they are after your money.
That information is wrong. The people doing this survey turned out to be a bunch of political guys trying to see if the number worked so they could blast people right before the last election.Another goofy Internet rumor.
A call came to me from Coeur D Alen ID but the phone number was 208-209-7489. There was a recorded message that asked if I would like to generate thousands of dollars each week.
I have been getting a call from 208-758-0218 "P3OPLE RSPNZ" every other day for about 2 weeks now. They do not leave a message. I refuse to pick up.
I jsut received the same call... what about the *60... I hope it's not one of the companies that steal your number when you answer?
recorded question asking about small dog ownership ....
