Got a call from this number tonight. They hung up...I called it back and was told this number could not be completed as dialed. I pressed the "1" for a long distance call before I tried the first time. I tried it twice more after that. It is a SCAM! The caller ID shows up as TEXAS 210-280-8487

Same here. I received the call and after asking my name and postal code, the lady said I should receive a package in the mail for a free cruise to Nassau.

I above all people should have known better, but I was tired. I answered a call from 210-280-8487. Said it was a short 5 minute survey about home security. Most questions were relatively innocuous and generic. Asked if I knew professional security companies in my area. Listed a few. Asked if I knew of any companies launching new security services. I mentioned Cox Communications, asked questions about features of Cox home security, I only mentioned a few I was aware of. seemed like more a marketing awareness survey. Did give zip code and first name... I am kicking myself at the moment... time to go into hyper protective mode.

Thanks for this; just received a call over the dinner hour from the same number on my cell and, as I didn't recognize the number, I was hardly going to answer it and ruin my dinner, thinking that, if it were a legit. call, then they would leave a VM for a call-back, which they didn't. Just so happens that I am in Canada, and don't know anyone/do any business in Texas. In addition, to my knowledge, Verizon is not a licensed carrier in Canada (though US subscribers who use that service can roam whilst visiting, with those attendant roaming fees of course). I say this as, frankly, I've zero idea as to why a company that doesn't do business up here would be bothering to pitch anything to anyone up here--very odd, as that simply makes no sense to me (not to mention they're not licensed to sell up here, which is and/or could be a problem for them if it is in fact them in turn). This suggests that something else is going on, and glad I didn't bother to pick up the call as who needs cell minutes chewed up by such nonsense. Again, thanks for the info, and cheers to you all.

I got a call on my cell phone but did not answer it. I looked up the number on Canada411 and was able to find out by this listing that it is a bogus caller. Thanks for all the people that reported this.

Got a call on my work number; it was a man with a very thick accent who kept saying "Hello" over and over, and then told me that my computer was sending out insecure messages and that he was going to help me. I told him that I was going to report him to the Better Business Bureau (it was the best I could think of at the moment) and then hung up. this is a scam for sure.

We probably get this here because 430 is a texas area code and somehow there dialer get dyslexic...my Area code is 403. LOL....what is yours?

Why is a Texas company calling a Toronto (CANADA) number?

These people have been calling me for months, but I've never picked up. They never leave a voicemail. Their calls are becoming more and more frequent - guess they're getting desperate!
