Someone somewhere within the VOIPs are selling the users data. The VOIPS should be held accountable and should be forced to perform internal audits. Accountability is a service that should be provided.
Received today sept 30 at 16:24. After a 2 second silence a recorder voice screamed at me "Congratulations you won a trip to Bahamas...." and I hung up.Do they need the volume that high? Tone it down a bit.Called id said it came from Ontario.
A quick search on Google gives you a list of area codes plus valid prefixes (read: wikipedia). All one has to do is to program the auto-dialer with these valid area codes and prefixes, you then have 6 out of the 10 digits figured out. Dial it 10,000 times (0000-9999), note the ones that actually ring through (does not return the typical telco "The number you have dialed is not valid" announcement), suddenly you have a comprehensive "valid phone" number database ready to be abused by telemarketers.The Do Not Call list won't protect you anymore.
