Got a call from the same Indian guy. He said he was from Windows & wanted me to turn on my computer so he can talk me thru a fix to my infected computer. I refused & asked if he was scamming me. I then started to ask questions & he hung up on me after saying f u lady.
I got this call at 3:01pm today...rambled on about my computer having a virus! I told him "I don't know what you're talking about! I don't even own a computer!" He hung up quick hehe
This # showed up on the call display this morning at my home just outside Fredericton New Brunswick. I know from experiance not to answer it. I find they call less if you don't pick it up, it's been months since they last called.
I GOT A CALL JUST TODAY A WOMEN HEAVY ACCENT SAYS MY MICROSOFT WINDOWS IS INFECTED I ASKED THE COMPANY NAME WAS TOLD I WORK FOR MICROSOFT MIND YOU THIS IS MY JOB COMPUTER AND HALF THE SITES ARE BLOCKED I TOLD THEM I HAVE NO COMPUTER AND THE WOMEN HUNG UP..YEAH NEXT TIMEE THEY CALL ME AT MY JOB IM DEFINATLEY GONNA WAIST THERE TIME
Just got a call from this number. The guy spoke with a heavy accent. He tried to tell me that he was from "Windows Service Center" and that my computer has been infected. He was very persistent. I told him I didn't believe him and he still tried to convince me that something was wrong with my computer. I told him my computer had not been on for several days. He said that it got infected a month ago. Hmmmm. He then told me to turn my computer on and he would be able to give me the information to fix it. I told him "no thanks, and sorry, but I just don't believe you." I'm sure he is trying to capitalize on the "Malware" scare that started at midnight today. I'm sure it's a scam. Also, the number shows up at "unknown". Wouldn't it say "Windows Service Center" if it really was from Windows?
Too funny. I did the exact same thing today. I actually am an I.T. specialist and saw right through the bogus steps he instructed me to do to determine my computer was infected. When he had me bring up the third party remote server login page, it required a 6 digit code, which he assigned to me, and would have connected me to all his hacking buddies in India. They would have ripped vital information out of my computer and downloaded malware, which they then would have charged me $500 via credit card to remove. When he asked me to click the "Connect to Technician" button. I tore into him and told him I wrote down the 6 digit number and the time and was calling the remote access business LogMeIn123.com. I called them, stated my complaint, and they said they would investigate the matter and email me the results. I think the company in India is called Comantra.
I recieved three phone calls today from this phone number. The last one at 9:50 this evening. I didn't answer as I was suspicious of the number. I checked it out and found all of your complaints and am glad I never answered. I've now blocked the number from calling again. Maybe all of you should consider blocking it too, if you have that service available to you. I'm in B.C.
I have a family member who was unfortunate enough to fall for the scam. One good thing to come out of it was he received a number to directly contact them for further service. The number is 1-800-619-0765. I can tell you there really is no greater pleasure than calling the number and wasting their time with useless information. I know I am not the only one who will take pleasure in providing these scumbags a taste of their own medicine. Cheers.
I NEVER answer my phone. I ALWAYS let the answering machine pick up. If it's important and a valid call, they will leave a message. If it's a telemarketer, which it usually is, I simply log into my home phone service provider web site, go to the "Selective Call Block" and add the number that was left on my caller ID. They are now blocked. If they call again, and I'm sure they will, they get a recording telling them that the number they are calling is not accepting calls from them. My phone never rings. I'm with Brighthouse but I'm pretty sure that any provider would have the same feature. Reporting them to the Do Not Call web site doesn't seem to do any good. Blocking them is at least a way of ...how is it said, oh yeah, "Sticking it to the man" :)
