But the problem is, you never know when you're dealing with someone who is honest.Hell, I'd love to talk to an honest collection agency. I'd even help them skip trace the [***] they're looking for. But when so many are dishonest, and when there's so much fraud going on with these types of calls, there's not much I can do. Don't care how honest you think you are, I can't take the chance.Sorry, but that's the situation you guys have created. If you wanna fix it, be responsible enough to clean up your own industry.

They call and never leave a message and call numerous times a day. If it is Kohls, my card is paid up and don't have a clue why they are calling. Sounds like some scam to me.

How rude of you to call the previous individual who posted a lier! This is in fact the phone number for Kohl's collection department. They may also have the wrong number on old accounts so therefore if you have never had a Kohl's account you may get a call and they just MIGHT HAVE THE WRONG NUMBER! I am engaged in a business in which I am required by law to keep my client's personal information confidential. If you get a call from this number just hang up and get on with your life. If you have an account with Kohl's and they call you they don't know for certain that hte individual the call is intended for is the person on the other end of the line therefore they must verify SOME information. Everyone seems to get so bent out of shape over the least little thing these days. If you don't want to take a call for which you don't recognize the number then don't answer; if you don't want your identity stolen then don't set up on line bill pay accounts, a link to your bank account, make a purchase on line, use CASH only when you shop in the stores and FOR HEAVEN SAKES GET A LIFE!

I think when it comes down to fraud its best to follow a couple rules: A collector from a real company will already have your Social Security number, so they dont need you to verify the entire thing.. just the last 4 digits. If someone asks for you entire social security number or any sort of credit card info.. then you prolly have fraud on your hands. Most debt collectors will only need checking info, a routing number and account number. If you are uncomfortable giving that.. they will have a mail address you can send payments too or you could make payments in certain stores. Use common sense and if you think something is fishy... ask for a callback number, the collectors name and company and a personal extension. All professional collection agencies will give out that info without a second thought. You always have the right to call back and verify the company before you pay.

I get about five calls a day from this number on my cell phone. I have never shopped at Kohls and never answer. It always leaves the same message telling me to call 1-888-814-3555n but I have never called.

I have been receiving these calls for the past 4 days. I do not answer calls from numbers I do not know. I found this wonderful app on my cell phone called Privacy Star. You are able to block numbers, look up numbers and file a complaint. I tried it free for a few weeks and then paid the $19.99 (once a year) and have been very satisfied with how it works.

You should never give a credit institution your work number. They call your work number because it is in their file and most likely you gave it to them.
