End Result. The number 1-302-458-1590 is reporting real fraudulent activity. I called the number on the back of the credit card and was transferred all over the place and finally was able to cancel the card. There were 2 bank transfer checks totalling close to $20k written and cashed in Sept and Oct against my credit card. I confirmed the fraud dept telephone # when I was finally finished with my card cancellation. If you don't believe the caller from 302-458-1590, then call the telephone # listed on the back of your credit card and just make sure. It was definitely worth my 2 hours of transfer and wait time to make sure I didn't get billed for the $20k in checks!
This #3024581590 is a valid number for BoA fraud department. They called me and left 888-436-8828 for callback. The 888 # is the same # on their email confirming a wire transfer I had just initiated. After a short discussion, BoA realizes their system is a little buggy, and they evidently are trying to make this whole process a little easier.
To the previous post, You're a [removed:lang]! That is actually Bank of America. I had received a call from that number. All I did was call the number on the back of my credit card, and was eventually tranfered to the fraud department. It was confirmed that not only did Bank of America call, but there was fraud on my credit card as well. So much for the FBI investigation.
FIA Card Services is wholly owned by Bank of America. Getting a call from FIA Card Services is the same as getting a call from Bank of America. Of course, it's always safer to call the number on the back of your card or on your statement, but you'll discover every time that they had called you at the time you received a call from FIA Card Services.
I just received a call from this number (302-458-1590) and let it go to my voicemail. The caller said they were calling regarding my Bank of America business account, and they did have my business name and last 4 digits of my account. However, I checked the number online first and found this site, so I immediately became suspicious of the call. I followed advice here to only call the number on the back of my card, not the number the caller had given, and in my case, the call appears legitimate. When calling the number on the back of my card, I was immediately transferred to the fraud department, and there does appear to be a problem with my account. They are going to cancel my card and send a new one, freezing the current account number. I'll have to see what happens over the next week or so...
The number is legitimate, but my recommendation is the same as a number of other people's.I received a call from the 302 number with a request that I call back on an 877 number. In this day and age you should always be skeptical of an unsolicited call (as you apparently are since you're reading this). Call the number on the back of your card or on the official web site of your bank. (presumably BoA).It took the BoA account representative a little time to find the note attached to my account about the call, but it was there and it was from the fraud department. He transfered me over to them and we discussed some additional changes that had occurred on my account in connection with a previous fraud issue. For those of you that don't have a BoA credit card, I'd suggest that you use the BoA web site for contact information and call them. Explain that you've received a call from their fraud department but do not to your knowledge have an account with them. For all you or I know this may be the tip of the iceberg of an identity theft that has already been perpetrated against you. Be skeptical of the unsolicited call, it is the smart thing to do, but I don't suggest you ignore it entirely. The source is legit and they did call you for some real reason.
I am an attorney. My law firm has received numerous telephone calls from (302) 458-1590. The telephone number belongs to Bank of America, originating in Georgia. The telephone number is assigned to a department of the bank that handles collection related matters.
called BofA directly and asked about the number. it was the fraud department trying to reach me. legit.
Received a call from "Card Services" (Caller ID read "Newark, DE"; man said he was with the Fraud division of B of A, and that there was a suspicious charge on my card (he identified it via the original issuing company) from Bed, Bath and Beyond in Waterloo IA. I told him that I had not used the card in over a year and indeed had not activated the new card they'd sent me. He said B of A would cancel the card and issue another; I told him to cancel the account altogether. He agreed and disconnected. He did NOT ask for any information other than to verify my name.
