I picked up the phone, a woman said she was looking for John. I told her she called the wrong number, and hanged up.I find it really-really disturbing that this person called and probabaly our bill will be higher due to this call.
Recived the call today (14 Nov 2007) @ 2:54p.m.I was on the other line when the call came through and didn't reconize the number, when I called back there was message saying that (302) 458-1590 was currently in-active and to call 1-800-441-7048 "card services" and that one of their "specialist" would assit me. I didn't call.
I received a call from Card Services Fraud Department at (302) 458-1590. I figured it was probably from Bank of America ("BOA") because they are the only ones that I'm aware of who refer to themselves as Card Services and not Bank of America. Every other card refers to themselves by their name.Long story short, I contacted BOA through their website, and they verified that both numbers are correct and that the Fraud Department was attempting to contact me.When I called the 800 number, they asked whether I was calling from the number where they had left a message. I said yes. They did not request my account number although they asked me to verify other information to verify my identity. I am satisfied that the call was legitimate.
Hey Owen,You are a little dick [***]. They called me too. They said my Bank of America is [***] up...Guess what..I don't use bank of America.
Look people, there is a legit BOA number that is the same. That's the point, they are SPOOFING the number. This means they're calling from a separate number, but then they change the data packet for the header to APPEAR as this legit number. That's why there are some people on here with genuine, real BOA feedback. The lesson learned here is that if you do get a call, say okay thanks WITHOUT giving up your info and call BOA yourself. That way if it's legit, you're covered, and if it's not, you didn't give out any info.
Got a call from this number saying that someone tried to buy a Dell laptop using my credit card...in South Dakota (I'm in the Northeast). They said the y'll shut down my account, and mail me the paperwork. They didn't ask me for any personal information (which I wouldn't have given anyway) but they already knew my address to send the paperwork. Seemed suspicious, so I called BofA (from the back of the CC) and they said the account was in fact shut down and they are mailing a new card.
