This IS Bank of America. I just received a call to my cell phone from this number and spoke to a B of A customer rep who wanted to verify a wire transfer that I made online. She knew the details of the wire transfer that only the bank would know. She had to verify my identity before taking the funds out of my account.
I got the call away from my desk on my headset, and it was for my boss who is out of town on vacation. They gave me a call back number. I hung up, and came back to my desk. I looked at the caller ID on the handset. It did not say Bank of America, it said "no name". I thought that was very odd. I went online, Googled B of A. Got their credit card dept. phone numeber: 1.800.732.9194 (cut and pasted here from THEIR website). I called and related my suspicions, but was told that yes, indeed, the 800-383-0618 number I was given to call back was one of the many numbers they use for their fraud dept.
I just got a call from this number. The girl on the phone sounded VERY insistant, "This is Heather from Card Services", yada yada.Problem is, she addressed me by the wrong name. I'm legally changing my name this year, and she addressed me by that name. Everything like banking, business, etc. I still have in my current name.Nope, not calling back.
Just received a call from 302-458-1590 didn't answer but after I ran a google check and saw all the comments, I contacted Bank of America and they said this definitely was not one of their phone numbers.
I just got a phone call from this number saying there has been a suspicious transaction at a grocery store in Ohio 3 minutes ago while I'm living in Maryland. When this man was telling me he will close my account, my cell phone got disconnected due to the bad signal at home. So I called BofA to the phone number found on their web site and asked to transfer to fraud department to confirm this call. The rep at fraud department confirmed that there has been a request for transaction authorisation at the same location and with the same amount, and said my credit card account was already closed. That was exactly same discussion I had with the previous phone call. I have no doubt that 1-302-458-1590 is a legitimate number. If you still are, call BofA like I did.
This number is a VALID and ACTUAL direct # to the Bank of America fraud department/ this Number DOES NOT accept incomming calls. this is business as usual for MOST MAJOR BANKS! It is NOT Fraudulent or shady in any way shape or form. Most Major Banks have an OUTGOING call center and an INCOMMING call center and they are NOT THE SAME SET OF PHONE NUMBERS! People please, grow up and grow a pair.
Got a call today.. from Bank of America.. claiming that fraud occurred today. They gave an 800-472-7970 to call saying that it is 24 hours. They mentioned that.. I had not used the card for over a year. They knew my name. They also mentioned that an affidavit would be coming in the mail and they would cancel my old card. I am skeptical, but will see if I actually do get an affidavit. They never took my address.. or asked for my social security number... but they did have a number to reach me as well as knew my first and last names. I suspected fraud.. or... a sales call by the questions that was being asked. How are you doing today.. etc. Anyway.. here is my bit of info... I am in Hawaii.
