From other entries it appears this is the "Microsoft Technical Support" scam. They have been calling my landline for years. Different numbers and names just about every time! For about a month a guy calling himself Steve Martin called. I wonder if the real Steve Martin found out. He would do a great skit about being a south Asian scam call center worker! I hardly ever give out my cell number but they found it anyway!! I just don't answer calls I don't know. They did not leave a message.
Got a similar call just now and when I persisted in trying to give me his company's phone number so that I could verify, the guy, with a hard to understand accent, rattled one off. I actually called that number which a private aviation company and told them their number was being used for a scam operation. They were glad to be alerted
I keep getting these calls even though I tell the foreign person, " I don't have a computer, jokes on you..quit calling me!" There should be a way to sue these people. I am keeping a log and recording each time I get the calls. I don't understand what good is the DO NOT CALL LIST when they continue to pester people.
Calls early in the morning and wakes my family. When I answer, I say don not call this number ever again. I get no response. Jerk.
Seriously, I no more than hung up on a caller saying the IRS was looking for me and had a warrant, then I get another call from a idiot that thinks I will give him information if he says the FBI has a warrant. Do they really think that all people are as stupid as they? OK don't answer that!!! I had a good laugh about it. Especially when caller ID shows "unavailable". I have been known to set the phone down and walk off then come back later and hang it up!
Do you ever get telemarketing sales calls from Actually Real and unspoofed legitimate American Businesses like Sears, Target, your local Grocery, local fence and construction companies, Banks soliciting your business, and other True businesses that actually have a legitimate phone # and physical address? You Don't. That's because these reputable businesses do honor your request by not calling. Now, consider if the DNC did not exist. You'd be getting calls from those legitimate businesses in addition to the scofflaws. The reason most feel that the DNC doest work is because the don't why it was created in the first place and what its ONLY purpose is.That purpose is to limit the number of legitimate telephone sales calls to those who have registered, by those American businesses who also have registered with the FTC and therefore required to purchase the DNC list.It was created for no other reason. Go to the FTC/DNC site and read all about it.BTW: your caller is a criminal and comes under law enforcement. Unfortunately he is in an uncooperative country and out of reach of the long arm of American law.
I have had numerous calls from this number - the last several calls have had the name Kenneth D. Brown as the caller ID. When I pick up the phone this heavy Indian accent voice (sounds male) says Hello, can you hear me? if I say anything at all he immediately says "Oh good, I am calling from the Technical department of your computer. The one time I let him keep talking when he finally gave me a chance to say anything I asked him "which computer are you calling about?" Then he says any one that you have; if you would go to your computer and sign in I can correct the problem for you. I said "I have 9 computers in my home; Dells, HPs, Apple, Macs, etc. Which one has the problem; to which he says if you will just sign into any one of them I can fix the problem. I finally told he that I knew this was a scam from the beginning and I would be reporting him and I hung up. I have had several more calls from the same number and different numbers with the same stupid message. My husband is in bad health and the phone just continuing to ring upsets his schedule and his health; thus I pick the phone up and hang it back up to cut the ringing. I am getting very sick of it.
These people call me at least twice a week and this last time I told them not to call me any more and to remove my number from their files.
