I don't know anyone in area code 402 ,so I don't answer these calls. If this is indeed Walgreens, my machine picked up only the end of the message that said only, "press 8". I don't need reminders to refill my prescriptions, so I would prefer not to get these calls and will check to see if I can have them stopped.
I received an automated voice mail from Walgreens re my father-in-law's auto refill (right on time as he only had a few pills left), using my father-in-law's full legal name. The call back number left on the answering machine was a valid 800 number to Walgreens because there were no auto Refills left on his Rxs and they required Dr authorization. So it appears that while SOME companies may be spoofing Walgreens, it is a valid number that Walgreens uses to contact customers on the auto refill option.
I can tell you what they have to gain, they asked for my date of birth and SS#. I don't have any prescriptions at Walgreens to be reminded about. So, either it is a scam, or wishful thinking on Walgreen's part. Either way, I'm blocking the number since I don't need them, their reminders or to provide them with my personal information. Just to reassure myself. I called the local Walgreens and was told that THEY DO NOT DO THAT!!! So, good luck to you all who actually engaged this calling program.
Calls. Does not leave a message. Gives no ID of any kind. The next day, does the same thing all over again. Some people on the internet say it's a Walgreen's robocall. Very rude. If this is Walgreen's, I'm switching to another pharmacy.
I don't give a flying fuk if it's a legitimate reminder from Walgreen's or not. I did NOT opt in to be called on Sunday morning when I'm trying to sleep to be reminded to do ANYthing.Besides, I'll refill my fuking prescriptions when they run out.. not when you think I need to.
These calls are from Walgreens. If you have an online account you can opt out of these calls by going to your Communication Settings under the "personal Settings" tab.
402-220-1100 IS WALGREEN'S AUTOMATED PRESCRIPTION REFILL REMINDER NUMBER. THEY ASK FOR BIRTHDAY TO CONFIRM I.D. THEY OBVIOUSLY ALREADY HAVE YOUR PHONE NUMBER BECAUSE THEY CALLED YOU. IF YOU HAVE A WALGREENS CUSTOMER APPRECIATION CARD THEY HAVE YOUR INFO ON FILE. THAT BEING SAID, YOU SHOULD NOT GIVE ANYONE YOUR SSN IF UNCERTAIN OF WHO THEY ARE. I HAVE HAD OTHERS ASK FOR THE LAST 4 DIGITS OF SSN FOR I.D. CONFIRMATION, NOT SURE IF THAT IS 100% SAFE TO DO. ALSO, IF SOMEONE ELSE HAD YOUR PHONE NUMBER BEFORE YOU, THE REMINDER COULD BE FOR THEM, IF SO IT WILL TELL YOU WHO IT IS FOR. AND SOMETIMES PEOPLE GIVE THE WRONG PHONE NUMBER BY MISTAKE. ALSO YOUR DOCTOR COULD HAVE CALLED IN A PRESCRIPTION FOR YOU. EVEN IF YOU KNOW YOU HAVE NO REFILLS LEFT ON YOUR PRESCRIPTION IT COULD BE FOR SOMETHING LIKE BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICINE THAT YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY WANTS TO MAKE SURE YOU KEEP TAKING. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. I HAD NO REFILLS LEFT ON MY BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICINE WHEN I GOT THIS AUTOMATED CALL ASKING IF I WANTED TO REFILL IT. AS IT WAS WEEKS BEFORE MY NEXT DOCTORS APPOINTMENT AND I WAS OUT OF MEDS, I SAID YES, AND MY PRESCRIPTION WAS READY THE NEXT DAY. VERY CONVENIENT. SO IF THEY ALREADY HAVE YOUR PHONE NUMBER AND YOUR NAME AND KNOW YOUR PRESCRIPTION AND ALL THEY ASK FOR IS YOUR BIRTHDAY AS CONFIRMATION, WHAT KIND OF SCAM COULD IT POSSIBLY BE. BUT IF YOU ANSWER A CALL FROM AN UNKNOWN NUMBER AND THERE IS A REAL PERSON ON THE LINE ASKING YOU FOR REALLY PERSONAL INFO LIKE YOUR NAME AND FULL SSN OR BANK AND CREDIT CARD NUMBER OR PASSWORDS THEN YOU SHOULD HANG UP BECAUSE IT IS PROBABLY A SCAM. ALSO, SOON AFTER YOU VERIFY THAT YOU WANT A REFILL, YOU SHOULD RECEIVE ANOTHER AUTOMATED CALL FROM YOUR ACTUAL WALGREEN'S PHARMACY CONFIRMING THAT IT IS READY FOR PICKUP. AS FOR SOME OF THESE COMMENTS THAT SAY THEY CALLED WALGREEN'S AND WERE TOLD THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THESE AUTOMATED CALLS, I CAN ONLY ASSUME THEY ARE UNINFORMED EMPLOYEES, OR THE POSTERS ARE LIARS. SO GO TO THE WALGREENS WEBSITE FOR THE NUMBERS THAT ARE USED, PUT THEM IN YOUR PHONE, AND WHEN THEY CALL YOU AGAIN YOU WILL KNOW WHO THEY ARE. ANSWER THE CALL, CONFIRM IF IT IS FOR YOU, THEN EITHER ACCEPT THE REFILL OR NOT, AND IF YOU WANT THE CALLS TO STOP, PRESS 8. SORRY FOR THE ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, I'M NOT YELLING, I JUST HAVE BAD EYESIGHT AND CAPS ARE EASIER FOR ME TO READ. I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT WAS A STUPID CONCEPT ANYWAY, if i write in all lower case does that mean i'm whispering? SORRY FOR RAMBLING I HOPE THIS HELPS SOME OF YOU.
I use the Walgreens refill they have my home phone number but not my cell they usually leave a message this person didn't and I call it back
