The only problem with caller id is that it is not secure, and can be spoofed! As a matter of fact, the are online services, that will spoof it for you for a fee! But then again, Paypal has lost touch with reality, with their new policy of putting a 21+ day hold on funds!
This company "Scottlittle" showing to be based out of Nebraska tried to run a payment through paypal for God knows how much. Fortunately, the transaction was declined. I usually swipe my card when i make purchases but I do remember the name of that 1 company that I read my card# to over the phone not too long ago. I am waiting on the bank to send me the "fraud" claim form to help in the investigation. Can anyone tell me where else I can report this for example, the FBI. Even though I'm not a victim in this whole thing but i could have been if I have left any money on this card. WE NEED TO STOP THESE CROOKS!
Call yourself to paypal to find out if it is a real number, dont just trust the says on forum. What you are reading is also scammer is reading/posting it as well. PS. I just got a call from them few minutes ago too. He did greet with my full name and he was saying something abt the new IRS rules and want to verify the SSN. I told him if i can do online instead, and he said "yes, just simply go to profile" then my line was cut off. So real or not. We gotta find out. But at least i did not say anything personal the phone. So in general, never say anything personal info. over the phone. It is better to call them to verify instead of called by them, that is my thought. Take care!
Happened to look online at a credit account that I don't use and saw a charge for $149.99 for Paypal. I have disputed it with Wells Fargo and closed the credit card. It shows in my transactions as entered by hand and there was never a receipt issue by company who charged my card. I do have a paypal credit card. I also am verified with Paypal with my bank account and a different credit card. Makes no sense that they would charge me on a credit card that I never told them about, when they could easily charge my bank account or the 2 creditcards that they know about it. This is a scam.
Myself and several others were scammed but a group on E-Bay. PayPal provided no assistance. Basically said ,"tough." I filed a lawsuit against them in small claims court. They were served on 10/26/2012 and are now calling me from 402 935 7733. Finally got a live body to answer, the rep has no idea what is going on, now being transferred to a specialist?? "john" has no idea why I was called except for the huge chargeback on my account. I told him as I have told other, the chargeback on my account was due to a scam, a lawsuit has been filed AND there is a Do Not Call request on my account. Guess we'll see what happens next.
it is paypal, they called to make sure that i made the large purchase and that it was not fraud. They are good guys! If you don't feel comfortable just go online instead of talking to a person:-)
Please note. If you see a transaction in your bank web site similar to the following, (and in Googling the phone number you wound up here): Miscellaneous Transaction PAYPAL *XYZ INC 402-935-7733 CAThis means that a payment you made (perhaps on a debit card) was processed by the merchant, XYZ INC, through Paypal. The phone number provided is Paypal's, not the merchant's. You should be able to determine what you bought by Googling the merchant name and not the phone number. Yes, some charges may be fraudulent, but it's a "merchant" that initiated the charge, not Paypal. I had this issue and could not for the life of me figure out what the charge was from. I finally determined it was something my wife bought, legitimately, with our debit card.
This just happened to me on cyber Monday. I called AMEX and of course they are going to take care of the matter and do an investigation. This is fraud. Pure and simple. So I had to cancel my card immediately and get another one. Maddening!
