YES this is PAYPAL....this is a number the use to call their account holders for their automated verification process.
A legitimate call from Pay Pal that verifies you in order to activate some specific service.
My checking account was overdrawn because of a $195 purchase attributed to this number that I never made. When I called the number, it demanded that I enter my bank account number before proceeding, which I'm obviously not going to do. I canceled my debit card and am contesting the charge, but folks, BEWARE!
My business Visa January 2014 statement was scammed with 2 purchases on this same phone number referencing 2 different PayPal customers (Lawrence and Spellman) out of California, with a Nebraska area code??!! The bank will credit us back, but this is exactly why service charges and interest rate increases are passed on to consumers...trust me folks, big banks get bigger and pass on expenses to us, the "little guy consumer".
I called 402-935-7733 and answering machine said it was paypal and asked for my last 4 of my SSN. I hung up,logged onto paypal and called the customer service number listed there. Paypal person said it was paypal fraud dept trying to verify transactions. I also told them it's not good that caller id says UNKNOWN and they should not ask for my SSN without me knowing if it's legit. Nuber is ok but the way they use it is wrong. I suggest you call paypal from the number they have listed on thier site if you have concerns. HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!
