Got a call from these folks. I let the answer machine handle it. Checked caller ID and then called the number back. Got the message that 'This number is not in service'. BUT, I realized that that message is FAKE and in effect, it is THEIR answering machine. I might have fallen for their fake 'Number not in service' message except that when they finish telling me that it is not in service, they tacked on a fake "busy signal" at the end. When the REAL telephone company informs you that a number is 'no longer in service' they don't then give you a "busy signal". Instead, the REAL phone company disconnects the line after their message, and what you get is a DIAL TONE, not a fake "busy signal". Some earlier commentors (believing that "number not in service" message to be real) speculated that this sleazy telemarketer was using "spoofing" techniques to send "fake" caller ID info. This is not the case. When you call the number back and get the "This number no longer in service..." message, that is THEM. That is THEIR answering machine taking your call! I filed a complaint with FCC online.
Called 10-1-2011 @ 13:25, and I actually answered this time. Pressed 1 to speak to a representative and never had the opportunity to speak with anyone. They lucked out this time...
I now received a call from this number. Some b/s recording about my credit card being in good standing. I don't have one. I hung up and tried to call the number back. The phone did not ring, just went immediately to a recording saying the phone number is not in service.
Not sure who this is but I started getting calls from them today. Please, if anyone knows who this is post it!
I'm tempted to pick these up and say 'Beginning trace.'For the record, I no longer even have a credit card.
They called, and hung up.Caller ID said 407-480-9999.I tried to call the number, but it did not exist
I have been recieving this one and another one that I looked up and showed that it was also a scam number at least once a day and I am really tired of them. I know that all they are trying to do is to get my credit card number and the last person I would give it to would be someone who I don't know and who when they call don't even tell you what credit card company it is from. The other number which I also have been continuously getting is from Elk GROVE, CA telephone number 1-916-301-4406. It also showed up to be a scam number so be careful people when you give out information and make sure that the person you are talking to is a representative of the company you really want to be talking with. Never, Never give out your credit card number or social security number or any number of importance unless you are sure it is a respected company of yours.
