Another simple solution to stopping these calls is to get yourself a google voice account and let that become your answering machine and once the call comes in it get registereded in your account on then you just blocked them and no more calls.
They asked if I'd like to lower my credit card interest rates. Said they worked with all the banks & credit cards. I asked for their phone number & I would get back to them, & they hung up. DEFINITELY A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!
I got this same phone call! I received one yesterday on my cell and another on my home phone a few days ago. I have experienced everything you described. I, too, was hung up on once an operator came on the line. I asked who it was because they don't tell you in the recording and I heard a click! I have also contacted my credit card companies and everything appears to be fine. I have no idea what is going on. I had some strange calls going on a few years ago. I contacted the phone company and they informed me they were unable to help me without a police report. I was unsure of going through with a police report and just dealt with it a while longer. I don't even have a credit card, just pressed one and told them I don't have one. Got a "we'll take you off the list and god bless you." lol. Annoying.

Got the same thing DM1 reported. So, I just blocked the number and reported it to my phone carrier.
