I used the phone option to change my password because my password would not work. I was expecting the call from Ebay and did in fact change my password using the pin Ebay sent me. Scammers can hijack this number and aparrantly have, however if you have requested the password update by phone it is a VALID Ebay number. If you haven't requested the change it is probably a scammer. The Ebay system sends out the call within a matter of minutes after a request. I have used it before and they will give you a number to push to get your temporary PIN to change your password. The number does vary probably for system security reasons. AS another person said if you haven't requested to change your password don't push any buttons just hang up. Call type is "requested information" but that is not a selection option.
I made the mistake (well hopefully it doesn't hurt me) to press 4 just to see what will happen. As others have said it gave me a pin number which I did nothing with. Now I am concerned that just by pressing 4 on my phone I might have activated something. Any feedback on this?
Got a call this afternoon around 1pm Central. Left a VM saying 'if you are expecting this call, press 5" I do have an eBay account and the number they called is registered with them. That said, more than likely, the number is spoofed or hijacked.

I got two calls sunday morning the 1st one was at 1:03 a.M and the second one was at 1:15 a.Mi was sound sleeping and when the phone started ringing my wife said who whould be calling us at this time of night i checked caller id and it said e-bay inc press 6 to answere i let the machine take the call and at 1:15 a.M the phone started ringing again and it said the same thing so when ans machine stoped recording i unpluged phone.I never had a call like this before e-bay inc
This number phoned three times yesterday, twice in the middle of the night, alarming and waking me and my elderly wife. There is no way eBay can have my mobile number. The voice said "to accept this call, press the pound key." I hung up and put the phone on "do not disturb."
