This number shows up as the number calling. It says it is from Ebay Inc. They call about 4 am to 6 am. Most likely this is a spoofed number. Somebody has gotten Ebays number and used Spoof card or a like mechanism to call. However, all the numbers I own, have a federal court order for a tap and trace. By the order of a federal judge all telecommunication providers must provide me with all the line connection information. It's just a matter of time until I find out exactly where this call came from. When I have that information I will gladly share in full.
I was amending my listing on eBay and ithe web page asked me for security to click and receive a phone call with a validation number which was speoken by a computer voice. I entered it on eBay and it then let me continue, so for me this was a genuine security measure by eBay.
Early in the morning of Monday, November 16, 2008 between 12:28 a.m. and 12:55 a.m., I got three phone calls from this number. The first two said something along the lines of "This is Ebay calling. If you were expecting this call, press two." but the third one said "This is Ebay calling. If you were expecting this call, press one." I didn't press anything on any of the calls and the call would just end. I did call the number back at one point to see where the call would go and it claims to be Ebay Headquarters.
When you have an online account on the eBay website, if you don't log into it for a certain number of days, your account "locks". The only way to unlock it is to go through this process where an automated message will call you, ask you to press 1 if you're expecting the call, and then it gives you a pin number, which you have to enter on the eBay page. This will unlock your eBay account. This 408 number is the number from which eBay will call you in order to do this.
We got three calls from this number within 7 minutes at 9am Pacific Daylight Savings time. Same as what everyone else said. We just hung up. So, they're still at it.
This is totally a scam. These same f-ckers have been calling my mom to get my information. Spoofing our numbers and then later spoofed eBay's number and called back. Your Ebay account will lock after a while, but this is not how you go about unlocking it. Ebay doesn't just call you like that. These people also run a scam where they call and say they are from National Express Delivery and tell you they have a package for you from some big name brand store and try to get more info out of you.Don't give out any of your info over the phone. Change all you passwords and call the police!
Got two calls from this number at around 530/6pm today, didn't pick up either, called back and it said something along the lines of "...this Ebay.....press one if you know your party, press two for customer service"...etc.....wtf is this?
Phone Number: (408) 376-7400Caller ID: Campell, CAI don't answer it the phone. The voice mail left only says, "If you are expecting this call, press 9." What is this and why are they calling my cell phone?
while the number IS an ebay number used to verify an account the number is also being misused! When you pick up EBAY tells you IF you expected this call then continue if not just hang up! Very popular scam but IS a verification process EBAY uses to set up a new seller account! Just went through it last night! Saw the strange number in my phone and could not remember who called so here i am! NOW i remember EBAY calling when i set up a NEW seller account! Many people are getting FAKE calls though using same number? As i said they tell who is calling and if you are expecting the call continue if not HANG UP GIVE OUT no information over phone WHEN you did not initiate the call! EVER!!!
