Every time I reset my eBay password using their website, the verification call comes from this number; I am expecting the call.As for other uses for this number as a caller ID, I of course cannot comment other than the above.

I verified this number by calling Paypal. The Paypal Security guy said that it is a valid phone number for eBay.When I checked my Paypal balance at 3:00 in the morning, somehow it triggered the system to call me and verify something.

This number called me FOUR times this morning between 7:30am and 8:30am. I sent it to voicemail the first time and it called back almost instantly, so I picked up. "This is Ebay calling- IF you're expecting this call press #" The number changed every time they called. I never pressed the number and simply hung up. This has been by far the most annoying set of wake up calls I've ever had.

This is logical. I got two calls this morning and assumed that someone was trying to access my eBay account using the "I forgot my password" process. eBay calls the phone number on record for the account as a last attempt to confirm ownership. Since I wasn't accessing my account, I figured that someone else was trying to do so. It also makes sense that fraudulent users would attempt to conceal their identity with bogus numbers (which could be YOUR number, MY number, etc.) and eBay is, once again, just trying to confirm the identity of the seller. If it's not genuine, it doesn't pass. Bottom line, while it may be annoying to get an unsolicited phone call, it may be an indication that someone is trying to hack your eBay account *OR* someone is using your phone number. Either way, don't blame eBay... they are just trying to keep control on fraud.

Got 3 calls at 4 am this morning, 1/20/2010. Said "This is Ebay calling. If you're expecting this call, press two, three, six." Two of the calls went to voice mail. I did not press a number.

Got a call from this number shortly after installing the AuctionMate app on my Palm Pre. It is verification to allow the app to access your eBay account so that it can pull in all the data from your watch list, allow you to bid on items, etc. Through the eBay website, it asked me to choose a number to call from the numbers I have listed on my eBay account and when it called it provided me with a pin to allow the app access. This is legit but as the other users said, be wary unless you are expecting a call just incase this number is being spoofed.

Kept getting a call saying Ebay and if you are expecting this call press and said a different nubber each time. I wasn't expecting a call from them. I didn't press anything. They continued to call about 4- 5 times and then gave up. It was arount 1:30pm EST.

I got this call, unlike other people, not at 4:30 am, but at 11 p.m. I saw it said ebay. I ignored it for a bit, and didn't pick up. People here are sayingthey got called multiple times in a small amount of time.. that hasn't jappened to me yet.

Called my cell, but left no message -- robot probably got confused by the Google Voice new-caller prompts. Just in case, I logged into my eBay account -- no problems there, even though I hadn't hit it for months.

eBay uses this number to call you with a PIN number when someone is using your account. In my case I was trying to sell items on a long dormant eBay account so they wanted confirmation that I was the one using the account. Legit Call!
