got two calls back to back @ approx. 1045pm cst. saying blah blah blah this is ebay. Not worth taking the chance of putting my information out there. I hung up.
I got calls from this number after using the call back service from Ebay to verify my account because I was using it from a different pc.Why I get calls from this number is kind of a miracle to me because I live in Germany and my phone number is a german one too.

I JUST GOT 2 CALLS IN A ROW FROM THIS SAME NUMBER. I LET IT GO TO VOICEMAIL BOTH TIMES, ALL IT SAID WAS IF EXPECTING THIS CALL PRESS 8. IT DID NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT EBAY, I DID NOT PRESS ANYTHING JUST DELETED THE CALLS. IVE HAD NO PROBS WITH EBAY SO FAR......
It's from Ebay. Basically when you submit an item to sell, they verify by calling you, providing you with a conformation number that you have to enter in Ebay's page in order to list the item.I know this because I sell on E-Bay, and that's their policy to protect people from fraudulant users.
Cam, you are exactly right. i just did this today to retrieve my user name. But i asked them to call me, cant see why these people are getting calls....
this 408 number is EBAY calling. if you need to change your password and you don't get the email there is an option to have ebay call and give you a code to input to your pc. on your pc it shows the number of your phone they will call and gives you the option to say yes or no and when to call you.the call comes in from this 408 # in san jose and an electronic voice gives you the id code to submit on your pc so you can change your ebay password. i don't know why it is calling people unsolicited.for me it was a requested call.
