Didn't answer; VM message in Chinese; CID = Consul General. Spam. Blocking it.

I got a call from this number and It was a recording in Mandarin. The recorded message indicated I have important document at the Consulate in SF. I have to options to choose from to continue the call. Press 1 to be transfer to a live person which I did. I spoke to a man identify himself as employee from the consulate. He was asking for my Chinese name. I explained to him I don''t have a Chinese name despite I am fluent in Mandarin. He went on said are you American Chinese. I told him hey you are calling me what is all about.his excuse was he needs my name in order to looking up. I went ahead and gave him my name. He said oh you have a letter here we received from a police department in Shanghai. Someone tried to use your passport. I said I have my passport with me so how this happened. He did not ask me any more info and want to transfer me to police department in Shanghai:) I said no. I need to verify you are calling from the consulate and what you are telling me is true. He said look at the caller ID is from Chinese Consulate. I said to him I need to call the Consulate tomorrow myself... he kept saying so you don't need us to help you to get back to the police in Shanghai. I said I will call the consulate. He gave me his name and employee ID. I can tell he was trying hard to gain trust from me. I did not provide any information to him except my name. He also did not ask any questions. I am not sure anyone had a call like this.. I tried to contact the consulate but no one answer their phone and I left VM and no one called me back.

This number just called my cell phone. I never pick up a call from unknown numbers and always wait for voice message if the call is really important. No voice message was left by the call. Found many folks had already reported the call at this web site. Will block that number from now on.

Same experience as LLC. I don't pick up calls from unknown numbers, either. No VM left.

Called 6 times in a row. Immediately hung up.
