This is LEGITIMATE.I emailed and received this response from CVS Caremark:Please accept our apology for any inconvenience. The call that was placed to you was from CVS Caremark.
I got a phone call this morning from this number claiming they were CVS & saying our prescription is ready. We have never used CVS pharmacy for prescriptions. I don' t think it is a bill collector as we don't owe anyone. They use an automated system & are trying to get us to say yes. They ask several times for the same person in attempt to record you saying "yes". If you say "no" they redirect the question saying are you sure you aren't "insert person's name here?" If I were CVS I would be concerned!
This is indeed Caremark/CVS. It is the telephonic reorder number for mail order prescriptions and has been for several years. I use it for my scripts as well as for my patients' refills (I am a nurse case manager). It is NOT a collection agency. They call you to remind you that it is time to reorder your scheduled meds like blood pressure medications, arthritis meds, etc.
Don't be foolish. No one should request your personal information over the phone. You never know who you are talking to when they initiate the call.
Received an automated robo call from this number at home. It said: "This call is forwith important prescription refill information." The robo dialer tried to confirm that it was speaking to . When it could not (because it was the vm system), it said to call 866-537-2393 and when prompted, enter your personal 7 digit code. It stated the code. When I called the 866 number, the recording said: Thank you for calling , please enter your personalized 7 digit code. I did so. It then asked me to state my date of birth at which point I hung up for the very reason that many have stated here. In this day and age when identity theft, spam and data tracking is big business, when you receive an unsolicited call from an automated system that doesn't identify the caller and it asks for personal information, you'd be stupid to just give it up.I called my insurance company and they checked both the medical side of my plan and the prescription side and they said neither made any such call. I gave them the 866-537-2393 and they said it is not one of their numbers. I googled that number and found one report where a poster said: "Called pretending to be my insurance company".Since the original robo call came from 423-822-2465 I googled it and found this page. So now I know that the call came from CVS. Yes I fill my prescriptions from CVS but why all the subterfuge? Why didn't the caller ID indicate the call came from CVS and why did CVS pretend at 866-537-2393 that they were my insurance company calling? I am on the DNC list and I still receive shady calls from unknown area codes and "private callers" every day. Why would CVS choose to employ the standard phone tactics of these shysters and telemarketers? Do they really need to do this? So now I know the call was probably legit but it doesn't matter. The reason identity theft is so easy is that so many people don't think twice about handing out personal info to just about anybody who asks. CVS is a reputable company but these phone shenanigans are not.
It is CVS Caremark. I have told them repeatedly that I am not interested in using CVS at all! They bought out ou local pharmacy only to shut it down, Romney style! I will take my 47% business to a more decent pharmacy.
This clearly is a CVS Pharmacy phone number following up on my presciption delivery. Totally Legitimate. Just call CVS Pharmacy corporate if you don't believe at 1-800-563-2579.Some individuals posting here are the illegimate ones.
I got the first call from this number 4 days ago. They ask for birthdate and zip code, and then just say 'you should revnew your prescription, press 1 to hear this again', and then 'bye' and hand up the call.I called CVS, and they promised to remove my two numbers form their automated system.I got the same call again today, and called them back. They have no record of my previous call, but a person I talked to later said they had problems logging calls earlier. They transferred me to a 'privacy' department that can check on when you visited; they have no record of any pharmacy visit, but did see my two numbers in the system with no information as 'deactivated'.That implies that I should not have got the call today, and the person 4 days ago did put them in as they said. Because I shouldn't have got the call, they transferred me to a third customer service person. The third person said that there are two other call systems the others may not have thought up, photo and 'Caremark'. She said my numbers were in the photo system and she'd remove them, but that system should not make pharmacy calls. She did not have access to the Caremark system to get any information, but said she would make the request to have it checked and remove them.We discussed the possibility of a phishing scam - scammers could spoof the CVS phone number making it look like it's calling you on caller id - but she cofirmed the content of the call is a legitimate Caremark call.
