These people are generally across state lines so local and state authorities have no jurisdiction in pursuing these creeps . Since they are using the telephone and the wire to transfer funds, they have broken federal laws with regard to fraud and unfair trade practices in addition to what threats they may make. The department that can do something about this if they receive sufficient complaints is the department of justice Attorney Generals office. They can conduct interstate investigations and possess the resources to do this so if you have been scammed or they have scammed you, you can file a complaint at USACT.Citizenscomplaint@usdoj.gov the more of you that do this the greater the effect it will have on their desire to prosecute this
the Federal trade commission has no teeth. File your complaint with the Department of justice. Citizenscomplaint@usdoj.gov
They have been calling me leaving messages on my cell saying that they have papers to serve me. Also calls my home number if I don't answer my cell on same day like 4 times in a row. I finally got tried of the voice messages and call them back. They said that I have two charges against me I said for what and they said fraud. WHAT! Very nasty and rude woman on the phone will not give me any information. Asking for my home and work address. Don't you think they would already have that if they have papers to serve me? Said they are going to serve me at my place of employment. I told her if she does I'm going to sue her. She said that she was going to call the HR dept at my job. Again I told her that if she does that she would be hearing from my lawyer.
Keep calling them back and tie up their lines. they have no ability to block incoming calls other then to hang up or put you on hold. If you tie up their lines by calling over and over they won't be able to conduct any business and thieves can't call the cops to complain someone is harassing them. That's the problem with braking the law. Turn the tables on them and use their tactics against them. I promise you they will leave you alone. Be aggressive be insulting. I have spent the last day and a half assaulting them with hundreds of calls . It works but you have to invest some effort. I guess the question is, Are you your brothers keeper. If you want to stop them from doing this to someone else you need to be proactive and not just complain about it. If this is done enough by enough victims they will need to change their phone lines like they change their names and business identities. Make it costly for them having attempted to scam you
My calls originate from a 406-840-4922 number in Montana, and it's a recorded message saying just about the same as above, and to call the 434-234-8021 number and reference case DTL1366. They are saying "Rufus something" but I can't make out the last name.
