This is what the FCC calls a SLAM call. They are targetting spanish speaking persons offering a free calling card because the phone company will be disrupting the service or you are good customer etc. The card is a way of them saying thank you for your pacience etc. Once they verify a few key pieces of information they will transfer you to an independent agent who will verify the information so they can send you the calling card. What they are really doing is trying to switch your long distance service. The key questions are:Are you authorized to make decisions for this telephone lineAre you over 18Is your address 123 msin stree, anytown, usaThey speak very fast and if you are not paying attention to what you are agreeing to they can switch your long distance telephone service.I have called the FCC about this - but they deffered me to my local state agency. Inerestingly enough the callers all seem to be from Peru and at one point I actually got one to actually tell me he was indeed calling from Lima. Whatever the case this is a scam and nothing more.

Same story, I speak fluent spanish. The guy on the other side speak with a caribean accent. They tried to get information from me, because I won a 500 minute telephone card. Saying that because I pay my bill's on time. He said he was calling from Qualcomm I told him that my service was not with them. He knew my name. I told him i was going to check with my telephone company, and to please call later, he said that no one was calling later. I told him i was not interested, the guy kind of got mad and hang the phone. So I'm assuming it's a scam, or they are trying to get you confused so you end up buying something from them. Just answer in english and after that i dont think they will bother again.

All of the sudden I started getting calls from this number ... i saved them as "DO NOT ANSWER" on my saved list so I know from now on not to bother ...

Over the past month or 2.#on ID no msg left.Or when phone was answered caller would not say anything.

In the last 2 weeks I've been getting calls, which show up as private calls, with a 1-500-500-5000 number. The calls are in spanish. The caller says he/she is calling on behalf of AT&T, and promoting a pre-paid calling card courtesey of AT&T. I never stay on the phone long enough to hear the whole spill since I throw them of guard by asking them questions, and they end up hanging up. My guess is that these are either being done by folks pretending to represent AT&T and are calling AT&T customers with Hispanic last names, or it is in fact an AT&T campaign targeting Hispanics. Either way, I would like these annoying calls to stop !!!!

I answered and heard people laughing, after saying hello several more times finally someone started giving me their sales pitch in spanish, I interrupted and said what kind of #**Y%T**(*(#@ company is this with u people wasting my time,in spanish,the [***] little coward on the other end just hanged up.If anyone has any info for filing a formal complaint let me know, I want to put these coakroaches out of business.

I have recieved a call a from this company a couple times now, it comes up as a PCS Phone and then the 500 number. They never leave a message. I am also on the no- call list. Very irritating!My husband speaks spanish, I'm going to have him answer and see what happens

We have recived many calls from this number. I e mailed the FCC to report it.

Yes we're getting it too. About 30 of them in the last few weeks! Does anyone know a way to block it?

I too have received these annoying calls almost 3 times a weeks for a month now.. I live in so-cal.......
